Opening Only's 2010

  1. Would you say that the "old timers" are as profitable as the Fair Value technique? In other words, if the Fair Value style produces a win rate of 70%+, are the "old timers" experiencing a win rate on par or better than 70%?

    thanks,

    Walt

  2. Most of the "old timers" don't mind placing more ordes, and trading the results longer...so they may not get the same win loss percentage, it is likely that they make more money overall.

Today + 18 cents... HD was good.

  3. Thanks for the reply, Don...

What are your thoughts about scaling-in (averaging down) once or twice with Opening Orders?

In other words, as an example: enter another limit order if the open order does not reverse within the 1st 5 ticks after the opening print; however, plan on exiting all positions if it goes 10 ticks against you.

  4. Two things.....we enter 2 or more layers quite often. Perhaps one envelope of .004, a second at .008, and a third at .012.

I enter my profit targets at 6 cents for half, 15 cents for the other half...many times will cancel and let them run as well.

    All the best,

    Don

    Hi, Don.

I've been doing OPG for two weeks and lost round 1k bulks. Might because of exiting too early, flat within 2,3 minutes. Another question, do u guys send opening order both on bid and short side? or just one side, and how do u decide which side should be?

    Thanks

  6. Had FV at -0.042% and was 2:1 long. Bands will be updated for tomorrow. MBT and TLK were my worse.

Do you guys believe including ADRs in the openings strategy (both MBT and TLK are ADRs) makes any difference to the results? Or it's completely irrelevant whether a stock is an ADR or not?

What is ADR? Is CI a ADR? CI is my today's big loser, exit too early....at the lowest point....

    Thanks

  9. An American depositary receipt (ADR) is a stock that trades in the United States but represents a specified number of shares in a foreign corporation.

The only thing with ADR's that I see is missing news if these foreign companies report them late....

  10. It depends on where we're opening based on previous day's closing (market).

Most often we do both sides...but if opening way up, then sell shorts only, and vice-versa.

All based on where the Futures are trading, and FV.
