Open The Economy... "Get Back To Normal"... ??

  1. I have been on lockdown a bit too long I think. I saw the governor of south dakota on tv last night talking about maintaining liberty and the economy and I was thinking about "some badness." She probably knows how to use the spurs too.

Antibody research indicates coronavirus may be far more widespread than known

Of 3,300 people in California county up to 4% found to have been infected.

The first large-scale community test of 3,300 people in Santa Clara County found that 2.5 to 4.2% of those tested were positive for antibodies -- a number suggesting a far higher past infection rate than the official count.

Based on the initial data, researchers estimate that the range of people who may have had the virus to be between 48,000 and 81,000 in the county of 2 million -- as opposed to the approximately 1,000 in the county's official tally at the time the samples were taken.

Our findings suggest that there is somewhere between 50- and 80-fold more infections in our county than what’s known by the number of cases than are reported by our department of public health," Dr. Eran Bendavid, the associate professor of medicine at Stanford University who led the study, said in an interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer.

  4. Flu deaths occur even after flu shots, symptomatic people staying home, medicine to treat the flu etc because most are often older citizens who succumb to pulmonary issues. The deaths that occur can be limited but are inevitable bit not as much as if we did everything

We have a vaccine..we have protocols and flu is only contagious when symptomatic.

    Covid..

    no vaccine
    no medicine across the board
    no.symptoms when infectious
kills young and old even if older people.die more.ofteb.

Covid is NOT the same as the flu

Correct. Once we have the vaccine, it will be very similar and probably less destructive than the flu. Right now, we have mitigated as much as we can and it's time to get back to work------just be careful

  6. What are people concerned about though? Oh, I see. Deaths.

I understand how covid is different from the flu, but people are concerned about mortality rates.

If we re-open the economy and use whatever mitigation efforts can be applied while also doing a gradual opening of the economy, what mortality rate are you willing to live with?

No crabwalking please. Thanking you in advance.
