Most Canadians are too ignorant to realize the impact of what doing nothing will do. Are you in this group? The requirement to have trackers be vaccinated made no sense from the beginning. The virus was already in every Canadian city, spreading rapidly, so there was no scientific justification to prevent them from entering with their much needed loads they were carrying. Freezing banks accounts for simply donating money to a peaceful protest is something that tyrannical regimes do, and I guess this is Canada now as well. Freedom isn't free. It has to be constantly maintained and any attempt to take freedoms away needs to be countered. Inaction against tyranny is exactly what led to Hitler killing 6 million Jews. The government has already learned how to force people to stay in their homes, how to force them to inject anything into their bodies, how to prevent them from protesting and how to take away their livelihoods. They have also learned how stupid most Canadians are to not fight back. Every single person who died in previous wars fighting for freedom would be ashamed right now to see their sacrifice was waste of time.
You are clearly in the group of young and foolish and clearly believe in a whole lot of bs. Your understanding of how to control a pandemic is absurdly stupid, but yet another example why the US has struggled so much to control the pandemic. There was nothing peaceful about the protests and the Canadian people don't want these assholes on our streets especially those who crossed the border to do so. Canadians are fighting back just not in the way that pleases you. Our message to the 'truckers' and their supporters is fuck off get off our streets we don't want you here. That message comes from all over our great country. Nobody fought in a war to protect these assholes doing what they were doing, The mob in Ottawa was harassing the local community, visible minorities, and anyone who chose to wear a mask in their presence. We don't want US style outbreaks in our country. We chose to protect our citizens with reasonable sacrifices for the greater good of the community. Remember, most people who live in Canada chose this country because of Canadian values, and right wing extremism just isn't popular here. Trump had a 13% approval rating in Canada when he got elected. What some Americans call 'their freedoms' is viewed as selfish, me first behavior here. This is not an opinion I use on here to argue with Americans; it accurately portrays how mainstream Canada views things.
Not true. Trump tried to do it and was refused, in the end he brought in the national guard. The point is this... These protests are showing that those who can still afford to have a voice are unpleased with the situation. The rest are quiet not because the acquiesce but because they are exhausted, and are just trying to live with governments taking more than 40% of their income in taxes (all in) while inflation goes to 20% oh and now you need to have a medical procedure to participate in society or you are homeless. Think about this for a minute. The above is mostly verifiably true. Why do we agree to live like this? For the record, I pay about 20% taxes all in.
Welcome in the American dream. A mini version of the Russian situation, where the majority is drinking to overcome the hard life. Wodka by law has to stay cheap. Do you understand why? I do.
Reasonable sacrifices? Says the trader who just sits at home looking at charts. If the government decides to close your trading account because you do something they don't like, who is going to fight for you? If the government shuts down the internet in the name of safety, how are you going to trade since this for you seems to be your source of income? Its easy for you to say all this when it doesn't affect you much. Ottawa is full of government workers that never had to worry about losing money. If anything, they got it much easier by being able to work from home. Its really sad that you don't see the big picture.
