Anyone ever had a "pricing error" with OTA? Quote you one price and write up the contract only to come back and say they messed up and it's ~ 33% more than previously priced.

It could be an honest error or a high pressure bait and switch sales technique. Hard to say which.

If that happened I would walk out and tell them to forget it. You could always change your mind later if they won't adjust the price back and you're willing to pay the higher price. But I'd need a cooling off period for me and a chance for them to live up to their original offer.

Did this happen before or after the contract was signed?

After. The contract is really an enrollment application near as I can tell (not a lawyer here) with the second sentence stating OTA reserves the right to refuse any application etc.

The whole mess is high pressure sales, drives me nuts on a personal note. If was an honest mistake were I in their shoes I'd eat it and honor the deal- or at least I hope I would.

Frankly this stuff is so expensive as it is, the thought of more is not good.

Do you have a copy of it? Did your salesman (or "education counselor" ) sign it? If you haven't already done so call the local franchise owner, the "president" of that office, and discuss it with them - tell them you have a signed contract on terms they agreed to that you expect them to honor it. The fine print should be in case there is a real unusual problem with a student, and not a sales tool.

Another place to talk to might be the head office's franchising department, unless of course you're dealing with that office already.

I really like OTA - but I don't like people getting shafted by salesmen and I suspect they won't either. I didn't have any problems like this nor has anyone I ever spoke to had such problems, so I don't think this is their normal method of operation. If that is correct it seems that someone at an appropriate level would be upset about this.

  7. Will you STOP shilling for this useless service? OTA employees/shills puts faked customer comments all over the web. Just Youtube has them in the hundreds

To any readers, OTA is a $6,000 7-day "course" taught by questionable "gurus", pimping standard useless TA stuff you can learn in a cheap textbook.

Ask for their broker statements when they turn on the faucet about their "success".

  8. Hi there, LearningTrading

How is OTA working out for you?

As you know, "to break even or lose less" won't cut it in the long term as you need to at least cover your costs...so are you profitable yet from your OTA experience?

    Wish you well...

  9. Hi, Nin.
    Thanks for asking.
My 7 day course is over. It was exhausting but worth the time.
As I promised, here are my thoughts about the class.

I really like the instructor. His mathemetical approaches on price action are fasinating. Its more logical and rational to explain the chart pattern and "predict" the price move. Most likely when you can place your trading action plan. This is what I want to learn the most from attending the school. I am not genius enough to learn all these on my own by reading the books.

I understand fully how important the risk management, trading with plan, trading with displine are. As a new trader, I read all these from books, I just never thought of those are crutial.

What I dislike is hardselling. I also think they need to pre-sceen the students. They painted a picture that everyone go home can trade and make profits which is impossible! Most of the students in my classes have no idea what trading is. They could barely follow the teacher. They get very frustrated so easily which are not their fault! In the meanwhile I am so bored to listen to teacher explain the same thing again and again. If the knowledge level of the students are fairly even, he can teach more complex patterns and do more analysis which can benefit us more.

Now I am sitting here looking at my stocks. It made sense that how the price move. how the patterns are formed.how the rythm is flowing. But I still don't feel like I am confident enough to make a good trade myself. It's like someone post on ET: The more you learn, the less you know. School can teach all the knowledge and teacher's experience. No one but myself have to make trades and figure out what my trading style and system are...
Trading takes time and lots of practice. Now I need to figure it out on my own.

So I am opening a 60 day free sim account. I will practice from there and write my journal. For sure I will apply what I learned from school.

Get ready for the shill accusations, even though your views were not totally positive people here just have it in for OTA.
