  1. You could offer a 3 month free trial and it would not matter cause you site would never get off the ground.

  3. Your chances are probably better if you took the $7,000 to build the website, and buy lottery tickets.

Trying to build a "big" website because you want to get rich is beyond unlikely. Putting up a site, no matter how professional, is not even a start. The advertising and promotionals and marketing efforts will probably require $100,000s to $1,000,000s. And even then, you will 99% likely fail.

The competition is beyond horrendous, and they have far more resources than you could even imagine. And even then, most of them struggle to make any real profits.

  6. The website designer I plan to use says that he has great free ideas to get traffic to the site. They have been around since 1997. They also sell web hosting, so they have an interest in your site doing well, so you can stick around with them paying them for web hosting. I know some of you may say that he just wants to sell me a website, but he seems genuine. I guess it's like any other business venture; you take a chance and see what happens. Worst case, I take a tax deduction for the loss and move on.

Plus, I can call this preacher that I saw on TV the other day. He will send me a free handkerchief with his name on it, and it's supposed to bring miracles into your life, so I have that going for me. I can also call this other preacher and order some free miracle water, so I have that going for me as well.

    Quote from NasdaqTrader:

My goal is to make tons of money without much cost or effort on my part,

You are posting on a trader's website about matchmaking. Congratulations. Why not start a trading signal or investment advisory website? You have a better chance of succeeding or at least getting back your cost.

All I need is 230 people in the entire country to join at $30/month for 1 month and my web design cost will be paid for and I'll be even.

Then start posting your trades. :)

The hardest part is the initial subscribers. The way how match.com did it was they bough the data base of AOL's @Love, or whatever they called, the free matchmaking network inside AOL. Lots of people eventually signed up for the new, paying service, because it had a HUGE database already. (not to mention that the free service disappeared)

Your best chance would be to start a niche market, like for Amish or goatlovers or something... :)

...and without database, you have to run the service for free for 6 months or more, before you would get paying costumers...

  9. NasdaqTrader, you could always start an online escort service. And to save money on the girls you could run it by hand until you get your savings built up.
    :D
