I guess you missed my post here. Politics, and much of the political economy, isn't just a "contact" sport, as this article claims... it's a blood sport. The title "Politics is a contact sport – but it should never be a violent one" is absurd because any sane, civilized, person knows they should never turn to violence; political or otherwise. Duh! The recent assassination attempt on Trump should make this extremely clear. Keep in mind, if George Washington failed to lead the states to victory over the British he would have been hung as a traitor. In addition GW killed plenty of people himself in order to help form the country. I have no idea how Trump is marching on as a modern outsider. For better or worse, he is the evolution of a traditional politician, v2.0 if you will. Modern pols try to keep the violence to a minimum because... if it breaks out, it will be targeted against them first. It's like a jailer saying there shouldn't be prison riots. However, politicians have absolutely no problem rhetorically smearing anyone they believe to be an impediment to their never ending hunger for power. Why do you think "establishment politicians" always talk out of both sides of their mouths? They don't want the violence to end. They want it to keep simmering without boiling over. It's a very fine line and understandable why so many people (on both sides) can get emotionally charged, and why demagogues can rise to power quickly. If we could all get along and trade each others goods and services in a non-coercive, mutually beneficial way, there would be no need for politicians. Would there? But the fact is, some people aren't happy with what their productivity is worth in the free market and so... they resort to violence. A politician is born.
AR-15 bullet goes 3200 fps, travel time from the "shooters" was 1/6 second. Old man Trump is doing a solid for all old people, "no taxes on social security income".
