3,000,000 SEK Things are starting to get interesting Down a lot for the week (ca 250,000 SEK) but then I'm long and most of the indexes I play (OMX, SX5E, DAX) had big falls and are at or near lows for the year. Account is currently up 10% up since Jan 1 2014. Started a few small long positions during the 2% bounce on Wed but they got wiped out today. Also sold 400,000 SEK of bonds on Wed and should clear in the account Monday so will spend some of the weekend deciding what to do with that. With lots of earning reports and the return of volatility it could be an interesting few weeks.
Probably end the week where it started ca. 3,000,000 SEK. Switched the 400,000 SEK from bonds into SX5E unleveraged ETF. After Thursday drop and rebound also started some high leverage ca. 15 positions in DAX and OMX. Maybe that will be the bottom of another dip? We will see. Knockout is around the previous low. Been the best time to buy many Euro Stocks all year when prices are at their year to date low. Of course may get even better deals next week so have to be prepared
3,250,000 SEK Seems like another V shaped dip/correction so far just a bit sharper and deeper than normal. Corporate earnings and US economy (jobs etc) still seem to be making slow progress so thought it was yet another dip worth buying. Bought into it using x15 certificates rather than options this time. OMX and SP500 are now not too far below their pre dip levels so switching attention to the DAX which remains ca. 10% below where it was a month ago. Make need news of QE from the ECB (Dec meeting?) to take the DAX and SX5E back to new highs.
Currently at new high 3,710,000 SEK First day that I am selling today and lots of it! In particular the leveraged certificates and warrants with OMX as underlying bought during the most recent dip. Both OMX and SP500 are back near highs. Still holding DAX as it has not bounced back (yet?). Between 1 Oct and 17 Oct I lost 570,000 SEK, but gained 936,000 SEK between 17 Oct and 31 October. Reason for such large (and unexpected) volatility in the account was that the holding of bonds and pref shares (bought using broker loan of 3.5%) behaved like stock which they hadn’t done during the smaller dips. Selling them off now and paying back the loans. Maybe people were just using them for liquidity(?) but anyway I was not forced to sell them which was good. The certificates behave rather different to the options I normally use. Your underlying holding moves dramatically if x15 leverage. Due to the maths they are great during a sustained rally if e.g. 1% daily gain in the underlying index then they increase by 15 % each day. Of course if there is a 2% drop then you get whacked 30%, and if a 3% drop you get almost wiped out with a 90% loss. Maybe just lucky that we have had a 2 week periods of constant upwards momentum without a big down day.
3,725,000 SEK Reached a new high of 3,800,000 SEK during the week but now dropped off a little as markets down ca 0.5% at time of writing this. More selling this week as upwards momentum fades. Very little leveraged OMX certificates left now and not enough to make a difference. As the leveraged DAX certificates had doubled I sold half what remains is ca 150,000 at x12 leverage. Will let the rest run to hopefully sell near 9600 level, otherwise stoploss at breakeven for them. Busy week travelling coming up so happy to not have any major positions.
3,700,000 SEK Travelling in China with work so quiet week with not much internet access. Picked up premium of 20,000 SEK selling OTM options on the OMX index with one month to expiry.
3,800,000 SEK Pleased that account is at new high but also rather annoyed that I sold stocks on Mon after a period of markets going nowhere for two weeks. Otherwise would be nearer 3,900,000 SEK. Day after selling markets rise again. Ah well thats life, win some and lose some.
3,950,000 SEK Surprised by the strength of the upward movement recently and the options sold last week for 20,000 SEK are now ITM and would cost me 60,000 SEK if I had to buy them back right now. Overall still long so the account is up again but no more highly leveraged long positions left to sell. Basically just 4 M SEK in unleveraged ETFs/Funds/Stock now. Cash in account also covers broker loans after all the selling. Been a while since account has been in a similar position to this and not a lot to do now.
