    Which illustrates two important points:

    1. Humans have an enormous capacity for self delusion, take for example, organized religion.

    2. Humans take themselves seriously, to the point that they feel their own personal thoughts and inner experiences bear some sort of significant relationship to the external world we call reality. History has shown us the only time this is true is when our thoughts are disciplined by the scientific method, but since most people are too lazy or stupid to do that, they simply go on believing that they have profound and meaningful insights about the world at large.

The above is not harmless. In trading self delusion can be very costly. In politics some people like say Muslims, will kill to defend their delusions from challenge. Extereme Liberals (communists) believe that their own inner sense of justice is so correct, they think killing you to achieve it has become justified.

If you really enjoy self revelation, try Mormonism. If you want to attack external reality then try physics.
