The Fox writer says, "I know that television stations are licensed in the public interest. It’s fair for the FCC to examine how much news a station offers, as opposed to lucrative game shows and syndicated reruns. But the content of that news ought to be off-limits."

I believe the opposite. The FCC has no business overseeing the mix of news, opinion, and entertainment on a channel, but may very well have business verifying that news content is "just the facts". I think the Orson Welles War of the Worlds broadcast is still a timely lesson.

That is orwellian doublespeak. Who the hell gets to decide what the facts are? Your facts or my facts? Have you ever been stopped by the police when you were innocent?
Whose facts held up on the speeding ticket? Even so... how bad was it that you might lose. Luckily we have trail by jury when our freedom is on the line.

But, are you fricken out of your mind looney fricken tunes? you do not give govt the right to determine facts when it comes to your freedoms, you don't leave it up to govt's good nature. Did you read about what happened in venezuela, china, the ussr, north korea, iraq, iran....

If we fact check the newsroom... then I get to fact check politicians....

I guarantee it will bother them when the government employee via there in person, and/or camera, tells them exactly what they can and cannot report. This stuff is beyond unreal!

Oh yes, today's lib is pure fascist, and that's what's so perplexing. The lib of the 60's would be flipping shitty, going bonkers right about now.

Lol, got a bee in your bonnet today?

Anyway, absolutely agree with fact-checking politicians. Recall the terrifying close-call we had with Romney and, "this campaign will not be dictated to by fact-checkers"?

As for who determines what the facts are, we could rely on old methods, like "who", "what", "where", "when", "why", etc. No need to get excited, it's doable.

Poor rectum... He'll be one of the first sheep slaughtered.
Anyhow, I agree with you. The gubment has ABSOLUTELY ZERO BUSINESS DECIDING WHAT's FACT, OR WHO'S 'FACTS' CAN BE REPORTED! I tee totally cannot believe we even have to deal with something like this in AMERICA! Blows me away! What's even more frightening is the fact that 95% of the posters in this section are common sense types. Sixty views go by, and no one but a few of us posts our outrage over this! Are the majority ready to lay down, and accept this fascism as the new norm? If so, it's all over but the crying...

I usually don't reply to rectum's nonsense, but don't get excited? Yeah, I'm not surprised at that kind of response. He's perfectly willing to allow some swastika-wearing fascist to stand in a newsroom, and say "nope, not that story. Not this one either." What a contrast between the libs of yesteryear, and today.

I just educated wheelbarrow in another thread (if that's even possible), about the definition of liberalism is via wikipedia. Here's the first two sentences:
"Liberalism in the United States is a broad political philosophy centered on the unalienable rights of the individual. The fundamental liberal ideals of freedom of speech, freedom of the press, freedom of religion for all belief systems, and the separation of church and state, right to due process and equality under the law are widely accepted as a common foundation across the spectrum of liberal thought."

Notice how FREEDOM OF SPEECH is the first right mentioned? Today's liberal:
"The government is good. I will do whatever they say, and will force upon others to do what the government says. I will never question the government, and only question those who want a very bad word called FREEDOM."
God bless America, what has happened here???!?!?!??:mad::mad:

exactly, we have to stop calling them liberals. they are the opposite of liberals. we all like the classical liberals who founded our country. 70s liberals feared big govt... they were anti govt... anti the man. now we have a bunch of drones asking the man to take care of them in exchange for their right to live.
