  6. covid is a known risk, and we have vaccines to fight it.
what if the Omicron variant was discovered in Swiss? I wonder if the media would have the similar reaction. Back in July, the media also had a similar reaction to the Delta variant "Why The Delta Variant Is Hyper-Contagious: A New Study Sheds Light".

    "
South African doctors who have treated Covid-19 patients say Omicron so far appears to be producing mild symptoms, including a dry cough, fever and night sweats.

"Based on what we know and how the other variants of concern have reacted to vaccine immunity, we can expect that we will still see high effectiveness for hospitalisation and severe disease, and that protection of the vaccines is likely to remain strong," Prof Abdool Karim told a news conference.

Preventing severe disease is mainly a function of T-cell immunity, different from the antibody immunity that often blocks infections, "so even if there's some escape from antibodies it's very hard to escape T-cell immunity", he said.

Am I talking about the current state of omicron variant? I am talking about what it can potentially and possibly do in the future. Are you a virology specialist that can guarantee 100% that it won't and can't happen? If not, STFU!! You should be grateful that there is somebody like me who thought of it and was actually willing to share it with dimwits like you. If you don't believe me then fuck off but don't say I didn't tell you so when shit hits the fan.

That's not a good deal for the virus, now is it? If it kills us all, and any other host it infects, then it dies as well. Don't fall into the trap of anthropomorphizing the thing, like top-level scientists sometimes do. They fall in love with their subject matter and develop twisted mental relationships with it.

Virii do not THINK. They do not have a master PLAN. They are not going to take over a planet they cannot survive on if they kill the hosts they survive in.

    Good grief.

Assuming in two weeks we find out that the vaccines are still effective against it.

Yes. The first potent variant B.1129 that had 70% increase in transmissibility and would render children to have equal severity of symptoms as adults was first discovered in UK and it freaked people out just the same. So the race is not an issue. Race cards shouldn't be pulled in the face of a virus; pull them when you are getting stopped by a traffic cop. For all the energy that they poured in to contemplate whether the delta variant freaked people out more because it was discovered in India, they should've instead channeled it to study how to make vaccines more effective against the delta variant.

For now. This is what that South African doctor who first discovered the Omicron variant stated. Variants do change.

Good to know but we won't know about the vaccine effectiveness for sure until in 2 weeks. It could be that the vaccine will still be effective but much less. Against the delta variant, the most potent mRNA vaccine is already about 66% effective. This omicron variant albeit it produces milder symptoms for what we know so far is more contagious and more resistant to the antibodies natural or vaccine-induced than the delta variant, the effectiveness could and I am sure will drop further.
