I'd recommend not using straps if possible as building grip strength is important. Chalk and a hook grip should be good. Reverse grip only when necessary. EDIT - sorry didn't realize I was responding to 20 pages ago.
Sorry for the long post. I only do oly lifts and squats, pulls, presses etc. I weigh about 105 kg. I want to lose some fat and slowly move down to 94 kg. I usually lift 4 times a week. Generally the first 1/2 of my workouts feel great and then I drag ass for the second half (usually around 2.5 hours per workout). Can anyone recommend a pre-workout supplement that will help me keep me lifting strong for the full 2.5 hours? I should mention that I basically only take creatine and protein powder and eat whole foods. I try to eat some carbs 1.5 hours before I workout and then some faster carbs after I'm done (both with protein). I don't want to screw up my fat burning. Any advice would be welcome.
ALCAR + ALA. The ALA for pumps. I don't do any pre-WO formula beyond that. BSN NO-Xplode is popular. I make sure I have had my coffee. A 2.5 hour workout?
Some form of snatching, some form of clean and jerks, either squats or pulls and some prehab, mobility work - about 2.5 hours. There is a fair amount of sitting around. I don't know what ALCAR or ALA is - can you explain please. I work out around 4 pm so coffee is no good for me unless I want to be up until 1 am. EDIT - won't I get enough aminos in my protein without adding? Sorry - I know nothing about this stuff.
Pure cortisol at 2.5 hrs if I did that. Of course, I'm bodybuilding. With DC, I'm out in an hour and ten mins.
Yeah, I would recommend against that many compounds in one sesh. More power to you for having the grit to do it, but try to limit it to an hour or 75 mins. Sip BCAAs during the workout. I really like Amino-X grape from BSN.
Will leave this to convexx to answer. However, the one thing I'll say is no, you won't get the BCAA's with your protein. Not enough... And you'll thank me for this. Scroll around, and start buying: http://www.musclefeast.com/Amino-Acids-Creatine/ No need to buy direct from the site. Too expensive. Amazon should have most, as well as other online retailers. ^This is top notch stuff.
They compete for absorption; so you want to get the (iso)leucine and valine isolated from your daily protein source. I drink the BCAA during Concept rowing, running and hiking. Of course, also during resistance sessions.
I have always been a chalk-user, but I tried a buddy's straps when I had hit a plateau and it really helped
