Actually, no. Thats a big reason why I never sought out any medical care. It hurt like a bitch for about 8 weeks, but my range of motion came back just fine and it didn't prevent me from doing any other weightlifting or training in general. I didn't realize it was affecting squats because honestly I got lazy and just neglected my lower body for far too long.

It bugs the crap out of me not being able to do the lifts that I want, so I think I will find some general rotator cuff rehab exercises to work on in addition the the other aides mentioned.

  2. Maybe it's scar tissue or inflammation. Find a sports massage therapist and see if they can dig in and break it up. Or one that knows pressure points - either Myofascial or Accupressure. Won't happen in 1 session. May take 5-10. Dunno.

In The 4-Hour Body, starting around page 305, there is a information regarding the reversing "permanent" injuries. Specifically Active Release Technique on the shoulders. Look into it if nothing else helps.

Inflammation for sure, I do have rheumatoid arthritis. Its not terrible and I currently dont need any prescription meds to manage it, but I definitely got the inflames, as I like to call em. Im banking on the hope that staying in shape now will help keep me from being ridiculously stiff and miserable when I get older.

Thanks for the suggestions. Sports massage didn't cross my mind, definitely going to check into that. I've just let this nag me forever now, this thread kind of inspired me to at least see if there is something I can do to make it better. If it is as simple as some targeted exercises and a good massage to get things loosened up again I am going to be super happy.

  5. I'd normally say don't get caught driving with that stuff in view. Then again, if a police dog gets a noseful of it, I don't think he's going to be too happy...

Where does one buy chalk or straps anyways? Between 7" wrists and sweat, I'm losing my grip on deadlifts now....

Dicks'? There aren't any Sportsmart's, Big 5, or other big chains around where I live...

  7. I never use straps. You can get the chalk online or at any climbing gym.

I started using wrist straps a couple years ago. Getting a little osteo in my hands, but I only use them for rows and DL, and only the heaviest sets. I treat weightlifting belts the same way. Only use it with my heaviest lifts. I like chalk for some exercises, especially on hot days. I'll take chalk over gloves any day. I never us lifting gloves.

Great thread guys. What's the current thinking on creatine? I'll put about 5 g straight in my mouth and just wash it down with water post-workout... sometimes!
