I didn't say I supported the exact SSN proposal Bush proposed, I supported putting the issue on the table. You said you liked the proposal. The issue was put on the table by Al Gore when he was talking about his lock box. I don't see you and other rightwingers giving him credit though. Bush's proposal was not negotiable, it was his way or the highway but you don't seem to have a problem with that. SSN is broke SSN will be broke in 40 years... maybe... maybe not. Our trade and budget deficits will make us go belly up way earlier than that, yet you did not confront Pabst when he said the economy was doing just fine. Bush was no more asleep regarding 9/11 than any other administration for the last 3 decades. Oh but he was. While previous administrations did not do the best they could, Bush did absolutely nothing. I'm concerned about what direction my party is moving to. It's not your party if you disagree with virtually all of its members on virtually all issues. All we Democrats do No one on this forum keeps repeating that he is a democrat as often as you do, and no democrat on this forum sounds exactly like a republican as much as you do. We're the ones that need to move to the center Republicans did not win elections by moving the the center. Then again if your definition of the center is the war in Iraq, tortures, free trade, no universal healthcare, privatization of Social Security etc - you're right in the center of the republican party.
All reasonable people know 9/11 was coming regardless of who was in the White House. All reasonable people know invading Iraq has been poorly executed since about one month in. All reasonable people know the re-deployment Democrats are calling for now is not cut & run. Re-deployment will happen next year and Bush will call it anything but, but re-deployment is what it'll be. All reasonable people know SSN with some opportunity for private investment is a good idea. All reasonable people know that doing nothing about SSN will cause more pain down the road. All reasonable people know some type of national heathcare is a must for the poor and working poor. This is not punishing the wealthy, it's helping those that need help. All reasonable people know the kool-aid drinkers on both sides of the isle think that by shouting the loudest and longest will win the day. My response to them is FUCK YOU! I will not go away quitely! I will not be run off! I will not let you define my party and my country when I know damn good and well you fucking idiots are the exception and not the rule. Some real Statesmenship will be required to unfuck this mess, but prior to that it'll be people like me putting a foot in the ass of you crazy fucks at the extreme ends of the politcal spectrum.
Wow! An old school common sense Dem. Dig it, dinosaur! You've a better chance of being a moderate within the GOP than a centrist voice of reason with the Dems. America is becoming Brazil and the Democrats are positioned to be the voice of minorities and the white liberal intelligentsia who virtually root for imperialist America's decline. You're a man without a party.
Why then do you keep attacking Pelosi, Conyers, Kennedy and other progressive/liberal democrats who by and large would agree with 90% of what you just said and not attacking rightwingers who disagree with 90% of what you said? PS of course in a typical rightwing manner you "forget" to mention that a competent government might have prevented 9/11 or at least would have captured Osama, you also "forget" to mention that Iraq was not merely "poorly executed", the decision to invade Iraq was a blunder of historic proportions, a distraction from the war on terror, the primary reason why osama is still at large and why Aghanistan is a failed state.
A 'competent government" indeed. Now who is doing the waffling? Your previous posts implied that Bush all by his lonesome is responsible for 9/11. I agree 100% that a competent government could have prevented 9/11. A competent government regarding terrorism hasn't existed for decades, if ever. The decision to invade Iraq was a historic blunder with all the wisdom that comes with 20/20 hindsight. Once again, the "competent government" was needed. All the intel of the time mandated an invasion. Had we not invaded Iraq, and had saddam actually had WMD's, and used them, Bush would have been crucified for ignoring all that intel. The mistake was, and still is, this whole free the Iraqi people bullshit. That's not why we went in. When it became obvious that no WMD's were to be found, we needed to make a quick exit. Yes, we would have had some serious egg on our face, but the upside would have been a clear message to would be terrorists, we ain't playin' anymore. Not killing OSB when we had him apparently pinned is on Rummys head and he'll have to live with that. Rummy should have been shown the door years ago. Pelosi, Conyers, Kennedy are progressive? Obviously we disagree on what the word progressive means. Those three names all by themselves cost Democrats millions of votes every national election. The party would be better off without them.
Your previous posts implied that Bush all by his lonesome is responsible for 9/11. Bullshit, I never said or implied anything like that. He was incompetent, negligent and lazy, that does not mean he could prevent 9/11, that means he was not even trying despite multiple warnings and red flags. Who knows what would have happened if he skipped his 5 week long Crawford vacation and put law enforcement agencies on high alert. A competent government regarding terrorism hasn't existed for decades, if ever. There are varying degrees of incompetence and bush certainly takes the cake. He is 100 times more incompetent than any one of his predecessor The decision to invade Iraq was a historic blunder with all the wisdom that comes with 20/20 hindsight. LOL, guess what, 50% of democrats voted against the invasion in 2003, they did not need no stinking hindsight, they had enough insight, experience and common sense to know exactly what would happen, they are the very democrats you hate and bash. Once again, the "competent government" was needed. All the intel of the time mandated an invasion. Had we not invaded Iraq, and had saddam actually had WMD's, and used them, Bush would have been crucified for ignoring all that intel. Cut the crap, the inspectors were in Iraq, they were doing their job, they were begging for several more months to finish it and avoid the war, besides the WMD issue - there were no ties between Saddam and Al-Qaeda or between Saddam and 9/11. Afghanistan was still not completely under our control, Osama and Mullah Omar were still at large, Al-Qaeda (which did not exist in Iraq) was still alive and kicking and the entire world told Bush and his supporters that we WOULD NOT be greeted as liberators. Even if Iraq needed to be taken care of it was certainly not a priority and a major distraction from the war on terror. Cut the crap. Not killing OSB when we had him apparently pinned is on Rummys head and he'll have to live with that. Bullshit, it's Bush's fault, where do you think the buck stops and who do you think is responsible for Rummy if not Mr. Delegator? Besides it was Bush's decision to keep 20K troops in Aghanistan where Osama was and 150K troops in Iraq were Osama was not. Pelosi, Conyers, Kennedy are progressive? Obviously we disagree on what the word progressive means. Those three names all by themselves cost Democrats millions of votes every national election. Again typical fox style unsubstantiated bashing. Can you actually name a few of their positions you disagree with, I am all ears.
Are you serious about that or are you just dissing him? You must have missed a few of the P & R threads lately.
Oh he's quite serious. Anyone who doesn't drink his koolaid is a neocon warmongerer. Witness the ad hominem he's trying to apply to Capt. Obvious, arguably the sole voice of reason here who is a Democrat. dddooo represents the looney left that has hijacked the Democratic party. That's why if they take power in the next elections, it'll be time to stock up on the burkhas.
The Foley thing is dead. Itâs October 10th. Dems need a better October Surprise to keep Republicans from gaining any seats. Less than a month to go.
