Oil: I call short term bottom right here

Discussion in 'Commodity Futures' started by Rearden Metal, Sep 12, 2006.

1. I made money on the oil play, dumping it all on yesterday's open- just like I said I would.
(Edit: Well, to be honest, my exact words were that I'd dump it on yesterday's open, at least partially.)

Here's a new call: Silver bottom, right here, right now.
SLV trading at 106.80

This will probably make you angry and cause you to lash out at me, but that's okay. Nothing personal, or maybe this is, but that doesn't sound truthful. This is your thread that you started. Why didn't you post the fact that you dumped your oil on the open yesterday? I know you said you were going to but why didn't you say you had until now? Makes it sound a bit sketchy. You call other people on their stuff in these forums so I'm questioning you. What it is. I don't know you and maybe you're being honest, but I've been doing this for some time and see lots of traders say similar things after a move goes against them which would have made them look bad. Next time maybe it would be good to post your exit and profits or losses to let others know how the trade went. I mean you're the one making the call. My thoughts.

3. any clues why you see silver as bottom now?

And some additional thoughts: Maybe you were doing a quick scalp on this and did that, but to come back to the forum you started a day later after the move goes strongly against the original call isn't maybe the greatest timing. To call this a short term bottom and "short term" turns out to be one day isn't the greatest either. I'm not faulting you on the call itself since no one actually knows where the bottom is until after the fact. Looked like a possibility to me. But it didn't hold up. Maybe 63 will be the bottom but who knows?

5. 1) Check my edit. I edited my post before I read yours.

2) I've had the co-founder/owner of Echo back me up, verifying my numbers once here already. My word is always good, and I didn't promise to hold any hands on that oil trade.

2) Are you sure you really want to discourage me from posting my calls here?

Hey man, it's nothing personal. You may be a great guy and honest as they come. Like I say I don't really know you. You can post your calls if you like or not. Like my post I just posted said, it's more about the timing. Not talking about hand holding. Something maybe others are interested in but not me. I do my own trades. If you choose to share your trades that's cool. I think that's great. But you must admit the term "short term bottom" does imply more than one day. At least most people would see it that way. If you're going to make these calls maybe you should say how you did, where you exited, etc. like on the one you made $500k on. Just a thought. You've been around too and have seen other traders say things after the fact. You did mentionn in the P&L thread a week or so ago you had lost $295k in a couple of days, so that definitely does show honesty there. :) I don't really want to be on bad terms with anyone here but just call it like I see it as do you. Peace. :)

8. That was a long term investment call, not a short term trade.
I stilll hold a heavy gold long position. This is an unleveraged investment, not a leveraged up short term trade.

I didn't really expect gold to dip hard like it did, but that doesn't change my opinion. I bought a little bit more (unleveraged, long term) gold yesterday.

I guess you did say you were going to exit partially on the open. Just never heard what happened with the rest. Good trading to you.
