Oil: I call short term bottom right here

Discussion in 'Commodity Futures' started by Rearden Metal, Sep 12, 2006.

  1. you dont call that bounce a short squeeze? I told you its going to take a few days to get going been getting long on significant retracements and selling for quick .40 profits. It will break to the upside, just may need to retest the lows again or could be next week.

  3. Romik, I'm no geologist- but that article can't possibly be anywhere near accurate.

<i>"As you can see from the table to the right, the United States dominates the oil shale market — with over 72% of the world’s oil shale resources. "</i>

I call bullshit. That's not even logical.

someone from colorado told me that oil shale is the energy of the future

    and always will be

    in the future

but never in the present, no matter how far out you go

  6. Romik, think of shale as the 'average looking chick' of fossil fuels.

Put an average looking chick at the UCLA campus or Playboy mansion- and nobody is even bothered to notice her existence.
But, put her on a warship cruising off the coast of Greenland where male servicemen outnumber the women by 50-1... and suddenly guys are all hitting on her left and right.

Notice which countries have bothered to quantify their shale reserves, and which countries have not.
Enormous quantities of shale can be found in the Persian Gulf region. ...but since they have all that light sweet good stuff bubbling up beneath a few shallow feet of sand, there isn't all that much incentive to conduct extensive research on the shale.

Now you know why I'm saying those 'statistics' are bullshit.

do you know how much rock you have to grind to get a barrel of oil from shale?

and guess what it takes to grind rock?

    ENERGY!

plus, it's an environmental disaster, as a side effect

Thanks, as I have mentioned earlier I really have no knowledge in that field, I posted the 2 sources to get some feedback on them. I must admit, one of things that will please me is the West not being dependant on Middle Eastern oil. There is a joke about this going round in my circle of friends, perhaps I'll simply PM you. Sorry for quirky English, not my mother tongue.
