Oil: I call short term bottom right here

Discussion in 'Commodity Futures' started by Rearden Metal, Sep 12, 2006.

1. Just a footnote to my above post. I admit two things:

1) I thought Tuesday afternoon's oil prices would mark the low of the week. I was wrong about that, but I didn't bet against it. Get the difference? I gave a great entry to get long oil- you had HOURS to get out at a nice profit on Wednesday.

2) Bighitler/hedgeking/joeyata1/brandon12: I made a mistake by responding to your lies so harshly in that PM. I knew that an insult to you feels 1,000 times as painful as an insult to a Westerner. Most Americans don't understand any of that, but I do. I responded with disproportionate force, and it was a mistake. (I must have learned that in the IDF :D)
You still only get one shot to hit back though.

3. I'd have preferred to get all this crap over and done with today, but fine- If you want to save your one post for another time, I'll let you do it.

4. Thanx again to all those who posted supportive comments.
As for discussing long term investments, I should start a whole 'nother thread for that. I have more liquid cash than decent investment ideas at this point- could actually use some help on that too, believe it or not.

As for silver, a picture is worth a thousand sluts...

Get it now? :D

Note: I've given you the +EV entry. The exit, you'll have to figure out for yourselves. I'm starting to wonder what the hell I'm even doing posting these calls here in the first place. I expected some sort of Karmic reward, some lucrative connections made from this... some hot young gold digging groupies... something! So far the payoff has been next to nil.

One last post, even though I'm really tired (up since 5 AM as usual, trading since 6, after 4 hours sleep :) ):
The thing behind my questioning the exit call I think came from my own past experiences. About 8 years ago, up til 3 years ago, I used to hang out all day in a live trading room with several hundered other traders. Most everyday I'd get up at 5 AM, sometimes 4 AM - ugh!, and spend most of the day there until 3 or 4 PM and then eat dinner and work some more looking at charts for the next day. This is not the thing to do, believe me. :) People would post their trades live in the room as they took them. Like BCE shorts ABC@35.55 and then awhile later BCE covers ABC@34.55=+1. And there was one trader in the room who was really a fantastic trader and a good guy. A guy from Germany. He was phenomenal. Just nailed trade after trade. Everyone was wowed by his abitlities. His trades were mind boggling. But two things I noticed were:
1. After enteing a trade and posting the entry, afer he would post the exit, lots of times if the move continued in his favor, he would then post, "sold the other half" at whatever it was. But only if the move went in his favor.
2. If he posted a trade and it went against him he pretty much didn't ever use stops and would just average down and usually got away with this. But sometimes it would REALLY move against him and I never did hear what happened to those trades.
I never questioned him on this as he was my friend and I didn't want to rock the boat so to speak.
Now in relation to my earlier comments here, in retrospect, I shouldn't have really questioned you RM on your exit post. It was just a timing thing in that you posted that after this really started to tank and hadn't said a thing about your exit for over a day. So that triggered my stuff. A better thing to do would have been to monitor this and if I saw you do that 3 or 4 times or everytime something went against you, then maybe the remarks would carry more weight. I remember now that in addition to bringing up your $295k loss in the P&L thread, you also did give your exit price on the VIX option play and said it was correct but not as good as you had called. As it turned out a day or two later it ended up being even better than you had called and I mentioned this in the thread. http://elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=1192044#post1192044
So that was another great call and you did call the exit right when you did it and not later after it got even better.
I'm a good guy and you seem to be too. Sorry for any misunderstanding I may have created. Good trading to you and to everyone (accept the assholes - we know who they are even though they may not.) :) I do appreciate all good posts. Goodnight.

9. One more thing...

You can bluff out one or two poker players, but you can never bluff an entire table full of players at once.

http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showt...3881&perpage=6&highlight=dancing&pagenumber=7

If that was B.S., I would have been caught. Out of the hundreds of guys who read that, Someone would obviously have called my bluff. (Duh!)

How big of a sniveling coward would a 'man' have to be, to be too big of a pussy to pick up the phone and check the facts for himself... yet still come on here and type out baseless, moronic accusations? I mean seriously, what kind of gutless sleazebag would actually choose to behave that way?

10. RM, you might be very good spotting little moles on beautiful girls, but when it comes to long term stuff, you seem to suck. :)

You would be well served asking for my opinion (which would be free for you) on your long term stuff. (long term for me is a few weeks/months)

My charts show metals (as well as energy) tanking this season, including silver of course.

Just a heads up and good intentions.

Cheers !
