What's the deal with the delisting of several of the HOLDRs? OIH is being replaced by the symbol OAJ... but I'm not picking up a quote yet??? CBOE Research Circular #RS11-840 DATE: December 20, 2011 TO: Permit Holders RE: Oil Service HOLDRS Trust ("OIH & adj. OIH4/OIH5/OIH6") Change in Marketplace Effective Date: December 21, 2011 The CBOE has been informed by NYSE Arca that Oil Service HOLDRS Trust ("OIH") will be delisted from their exchange effective the open of business on December 21, 2011. At that time, the OIH trading symbol will be re-employed on NYSE Arca as the trading symbol for Market Vectors Oil Service ETF. At this time, it is not known if Oil Service HOLDRS Trust will trade in the OTC market. Since the OIH trading symbol will no longer represent Oil Service HOLDRS Trust as of December 21, 2011, the existing option symbols OIH/OIH4/OIH5/OIH6 will be changed as follows effective the open of business on December 21, 2011. OIH => OAJ OIH4 => OAJ4 OIH5 => OAJ5 OIH6 => OAJ6
Sorry don't have the answer to your question but why did Merrill give up OIH to Van Eck to begin with? Some of the HOLDRS were duds but surely OIH was profitable as the flagship oil services ETF.
