Oh Noes : Most Republicans Who Bought Obamacare Coverage Like Their Plans

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Covertibility, Jul 15, 2014.

  1. This is bullshit, and you know that. It's not even an apples to oranges comparison. Your $350 / per month wouldn't have covered pretty much anything, with a gigantic deductible and exclusions and waiting periods to boot. Your $1150 / month policy covers everything. That is if you are telling the truth about exactly what the premiums were / are. I have always bought insurance myself, and I know what is what. With ACA, I am still being screwed over by overpriced care, but at least now I am being screwed over less. More in line with how an employee of a really big corporation is being screwed over. I know before my insurance didn't mean shit. Now it does.

And the geniuses who invented obamacare still havent told us how a person is going to afford a 5-10k deductible if they cant even afford 376$ a month.

  3. I agree. Obamacare needs to go and replaced by a single payer system like every sane prosperous country on earth. After all, single payer works for all public service, for paying cops, military, teachers. Why not doctors?

Actually you are wrong calling his comparison BS.

My wife and I paid $364/month with $10K deductible.

Odumbocare had us paying $1000/month and a $12,700 deductible.

So we would go from just over $4K/year in premiums to $12K/year. And deductible increasing by 27%.

And for the record the old plan covered annual physicals, associated routine bloodwork, mammogram, prostate exam and colonoscopies for both of us at NO COST. We would gain nothing under an Odumbocare plan. We'd be forced to buy crap we do not want, need or ever could use such as maternity coverage, pediatric dental, pediatric vision, mental health crap. We would be FORCED to fork out an extra $11K/year if we hit our deductible. And if we only paid premiums we'd be penalized just under $8K, or an increase in monthly premiums of 175%. Of course we're in the minority ... the roughly 10% who do not get subsidies. And in the other minority of 30% who are NOT overweight or obese. Funny how Odumbo wants to penalize those who (1) take care of themselves physically and (2) who work hard and reward those who are (1) slackers and (2) slobs.

  6. DHOHHI, That doesn't support what I see in over 10 years of buying insurance in the private market. But since neither of us are willing to divulge private details and provide proof, I suppose this debate isn't going anywhere. I read the insurance policies and the fine print. I know the difference between the "old plan" and the "new plan".

It looks like you're really just paying a very large sum for catastrophic insurance.

Have you considered going naked of insurance and not overpaying taxes so the irs can't dock you for a penalty? Then just pay out of pocket for routine med costs? If a catastrophe hits there are foreign junket type medical destinations that can take care of it for a fraction of the cost of US hospitals.

I know it's a risk if you are really concerned about a catastrophe, but it might be a risk worth taking for other people to consider even if you don't feel it's right for you and your family. Like a single person for instance.

Beside your point, DH's particular grievance, as has been pointed out before, is shared by a minority of Americans, the wealthy, self-employed in the individual market.

does anyone need proof to know that our insurance cost have gone up under obamacare. If you are not getting subsidized you are not see a reduction of 2500 you are seeing an increase of 2500.

its theft from familes. Jack up the prices so you can extract max dollars and then give subsides to those you favor. Just like universities and their tuition game subsidized by government backed loans. its wealth redistribution to the govt and the insurance companies.

Its one step close to rollerball.
