  3. The turds stayed down today despite the rally in the tech stocks and higher quality China stocks. Is this a new pattern where brainless bidding of China names comes to an end and people stick with the higher quality China stocks? Only time will tell.

  4. You actually think you are revealing some hidden truth? Of course these may be overvalued co's/stocks...anyone can see that.

Also if you try and apply logical thinking to the market and stocks you will miss out on making money and will get hurt as stocks routinely go against your logic. The market and stock movements are NOT logical. They are highly illogical. That is exactly what you are witnessing. You're just not getting it all and the big picture here.

Stocks can be grossly overvalued. And when you try and apply logic to that you will get burned. The reason being is that they can go on and on and on far higher beyond all logic and reasonable valuations. It is like trying to go short on a bull run trend and the stock keeps going up and up and up BEYOND all logic and your trade is a loser. The trick is to ride that trend and make $$$ and forget about trying to apply logic to it. Just be on the right side of the trend whether it is up or down, and use stop losses. For now these china stocks are on an upward trend the key is to take advantage of that. And when they reverse and a bubble pops to take advantage of that opportunity also. AND the flip side of your desire to apply logic is common. and that is Stocks fall to valuations that are well below what logic would dictate. But they can fall and fall and fall some more. Forget the logic there also and ride them down with that trend.

  5. The flaw in this "index" is that some of these stocks are impossible to short....and the ones that are shortable usually have a fee which would eat up most or all of the 4% gain.

So what? Did the original poster ever intend to short these stocks?

This thread is an interesting observation of what is going on in the craziest part of the stock trading world right now. A chart of this Turd Index would be a nice addition.

  7. The turd index is a reflection of the behavior of daytraders, whether they are feeling ebullient or being fearful.

And I can guarantee you that this index will underperform other "real" China stocks as the bubble continues. The reason? The insiders of these turds will bring out supply for bagholders to choke on, if they haven't started already. You never know how much they've dumped because many of these companies are based in foreign jurisdictions like the Caymans and many are ADRs. Most of the companies don't have to reveal their insider trades till much later.

  8. Who says you can't lose buying China stocks? Who said these stocks would double or triple from when I first started my index? The index is down 6.48% in 10 days.

  9. Definitely more volatile than domestic indices. Let me know when they create an ultra CTI ETF; that would make a great trading vehicle:D

As for logic, I tend to agree with 1flyfisher.
Go with the flow. Don't try to understand it, because you are given imperfect information to begin with (and I'm not referring to the fundamental kind, more
    towards the "insider" kind).

  10. NO bottom for this index, now down 8.07% in less than 2 weeks. Where are the pumpers? Turds are like water, they find their level. Still way overvalued and many stuck bagholders holding and praying for a dead cat bounce.
