I am using a mix of Big Charts and TOS data feeds and option chains. Big charts I can get about a 5 min delay on it, but TOS seems like they are anywhere from 25 min to 30 min delay. Which makes a mess of my trying to do trial experimental trades.

Do you use LIVE REAL TIME DATA. I used to years ago, and would dearly love to have the URL again for the OEX index. I'm going to have to figure out an option calculator as I no longer have my OPTION MASTER down here. I used to be able to figure out the real price of options FAST with OPTION MASTER, the basic model years ago despite the delayed data and get more accurate numbers from the real time index OEX url.

  3. Falconview:

EUR/USD at 1.3548 ( as I am typing this at 10:33)). That is practically where models said to start selling earlier today. What do you see?

Earlier today models said: between 1.3555 and 1.36.

I'm not really paying much attention to the index. Just checking in periodically. I have the first leg in on the buy side of my debit spread, but it hasn't moved enough to complete the DEBIT SPREAD and get the SOLD side. I'm trading the DEBIT SPREAD out in NOVEMBER options and they are quite expensive, so I'm really only trading 3 contracts right now.

The flutter you are talking about doesn't concern me much. As I am trading the trend on daily bars, not the gyrations of intra-day stuff. The index did go up, but I have faith in the trend and by golly I believe sometime today it will go down again and complete my debit spread. At least I sure hope so.
Basically I don't know what the heck is going on, only that it will go down over the longer haul.

    PRIVATE MAILS

Thanks to the hint from Trading Journals, I found the accounts section and pm messages. You people will forgive a country bumpkin who lives in sight of cows in the pasture mooing, chickens in the yard of my neighbor in the suburb I live in on the slope of GREEN PARROT VALLEY in the foothills of the Belize Alps. But I walk barefoot, ( no shoes, except when I go to town ) Work in my boxer underwear. Chew grass stems and otherwise am a country bumpkin. I never even knew there were private mail service on ELITE TRADER. I have just tried to catch up to the half dozen people who sent me messages. I apologize most profusely for not exploring and understanding the features of this system.

I'm an amateur at Spreads and trying to educate myself, so don't take anything I am saying or doing as some sort of accurate thing.

  5. HI guys, have had visitors for a few days staying with us.

TJ, my gardener even has a gardener! I really think you should set up an advisory website with your trading suggestions.

falconview, did your indicators show that reversal at 7:09 pacific time?

    Muchos gracias, Miguel

Well yes, but I didn't even pay it any attention. Do not even now, except out of curiousity. This is called NOISE in the market, or FLUTTER!

To see these things you require the smaller TIME FRAMES on Big Charts. I have found through experience I cannot get a " tradeable " move on anything smaller than the 10 day - HOURLY chart. The moves are too small, to accommodate the cost of the market maker spread and the cost of commissions. so I just ignore flutter, or noise. I look for the main daily trend, over a period of days.

I notice we are in a seven day TRADING RANGE right now. A rectangular box, so to speak. It will break out, either UP, or Down eventually. In the meantime, I'm holding 3 contracts of the OTM 510 PUTS.

I would like to complete the DEBIT SPREAD before the day ends, but if it doesn't it will be just a LONG DOWN PUT position.

I've been taking a nap in my hammock on the verandah and just came back in the door to check on things.
In re-reading my scratch paper notes, I cannot decipher what I did with this thing. I have calculations all over the place trying to figure out a spread debit for a three strike apart PUT debit spread trade. I crossed out the 515 strike buy and corrected it to 510 strike buy and then changed the prices so much, that now I don't know what I've got and one strike will make a big difference. So I have simply scratched that previous trade and re-done it at a buy of the Nov. 515 at $15.20, which is almost a dollar worse position than I was holding. Never mind, I need to know if my overall strategy will work. I may even be too far out with the November options?
So officially from now, I'm holding three contracts of the 515 at $15.10. I was not able to reconcile what I wanted with the SPREAD amounts between selling the 495 PUTS and the bought PUTS at the 515.
As this is for testing and learning purposes, think I'll go this way with this attempt.

You brought a smile to my face, with the comment that your gardener has a gardener. I laughed over that one. Talk about one upmanship. We actually have SEATTLE weather down here this past week. Had a tropical storm pass over us and out into the Pacific, then up to Mexico where it killed a 1000 people in Oaxaca in a mudslide and the last two days it has been sitting under Cuba in the pocket. This time of year these darn things get up to huge hurricane strength sitting there and instead of going North, they tend to come to Belize or Honduras. So we sit and wait. The rain has been fairly steady for a week and right now we have your weather. Grey skies, drizzly rain and rumbling thunder. Waiting for market to close, so I can make the trip to our nearby agricultural center to the bank section and cash a cheque. It is 1 p.m. here and the market in NY closes at 2 p.m. local time. Last I looked the index was dropping. Which is a good thing for my plans and bets.

    Weekly credit spread

Looked at the OEX weekly. Particularly the OEX 530 but no premium available there. It is 10 to 10. The 525 has .30 cents, which sounds nice. Think I'll take a chance and wait it out tomorrow. I have a feeling we re going to see a little upside again tomorrow. Wait on that for an entry in the overhead BEAR CALL Spread.

  10. FV: thanks for the email. I received it, but have not had a chance to see what you do.

Stanford: I responded to your PM in relation to adjustments. I may have mentioned in a previous post that you may want to post the price of your condor as it evolved over time. The data would be helpful to decide on opinion and ideas in relation to adjustment, other defense methods, and other related issues. If you have an animation feature in ThinkOrSwim, you may want to use it, and share the results. You can email/PM them if it is better discussed in private.

    Regards to both of you!
