does anyone feel that odds maker is just a successful in live trading as it is on the backtest, i have a few strategies that i trade manually and when backtested they are running between 60 and 70% profitablity, just curious on slippage and the validity on entry points on these triggers, i am trading through assent using the autobot which is configured to assents api through trade ideas in correlation to the odds maker and the strategies i am running

  2. From what I see, you will have some slippage with just market orders. My experience from just market is shooting for about 65% of what the OM says. But if you use the limit and limit +/- then you are looking for the same or better.

assent offers limit orders now with the trade ideas autobot, which is huge because i was very skeptical on profitablity using strictly market orders

It all depends on what types of "Events" you're scanning for. Some strategies work well with market orders (Minimal Slippage on Entries) While others do not. I can tell you from my experiences that using limit orders should level the playing field to some extent. Just think about how many times you enter a position only to have it move against you immediately by .10-.25 cents before it either goes your way or stops you out. (whether your auto or manual). On the orders that are executed using limits, most of the time my entry prices are significantly better than the Odds Maker and I'm adding liquidity instead of removing.( We all know how quickly that can add up).All in all it's looking very positive.

thats great and you can never complain about price improvement, my thing with odds maker is in thinner stocks where there can be a little spread, if you get an alert from trade ideas and if you take the offer you could be 25 cents out of the money, instead put a limit buy in where you get the signal and if you get filled great if not move on, some stocks on odds maker are so thin that the alert is almost impossible to take advantage of thats why you really have to narrow down your window specific filters min avg volume avg true range etc

You can also use the Max Spread Filter to help alleviate large spreads. Max Distance fro Inside market is also extremely invaluable.

definately max distance from inside gets rid of those bad prints, also how important is casino factor, the strategies i have been testing the casino factor has always been 99% or higher just curious if a test came back at like 50% casino factor what would that mean

You will see a direct correlation between strategies that make very little $ and have poor 15 day summaries.Anthing that's any good will be in the 90's.It's just another piece of information; It's basically the CPU laying odds that the next trade out of the strat will fall into the displayed data set.

  10. OK, I GIVE UP:
What EXACTLY is "Odds Maker" ?
    How does it work ?
What is the underlying premise ?
