This volunteer is getting paid $22 an hour plus overtime! Not bad. Good work if you can find it.

Man, 25, charged with punching cop at downtown rally

An Alabama man is accused of punching a Chicago police officer at a downtown march attended by thousands to protest high unemployment and foreclosures, authorities said.

Christopher Friday, 25, of Mobile, Ala., was charged this morning with aggravated battery to a police officer for slugging the cop Monday afternoon outside the Art Institute, where an estimated 3,000 people converged after the march, police said.

While the march and gathering at the Art Institute was largely peaceful, police did issue 24 municipal citations for being on the roadway.

Friday is expected to appear before a judge this morning, police said.

Amidst all this back and forth, are they legitimate, are they not? ... it's good to note that the tea party has faded from view. We can take that one positive from all this, however it turns out.

Not really, I see tea party people at these protests.

So Ricter, just so i understand you correctly: Tea party bad, Occupiers good? Did I get that right?

Tea partiers with a clue now, I like it.

I was pleased with the dissent the tp was expressing, and you could find posts I made at the time saying such. In my opinion their ire was misdirected.

  9. We don't know if it was self defense or not. Protesters are well within their constitutional rights to defend themselves from assault, be it from cops or otherwise. Cops just wildly swinging batons and spraying mace deserve to get punched in the face...and more.
