This has such a familiar pattern. In the late sixties the unwashed masses began to protest the Vietnam war and fairly large numbers. The democrats thought it would be a good idea to associate themselves with the protestors...until the violence outside of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago in 1968. That association has hurt the democrats ever since...and now they are doing it again. I think the protests will take a violent turn towards the WTO type behavior seen previously and the democrats will once again be seen as the party that wishes to destroy and dismantle our economy and our society. Republicans are stupid. Democrats are stupid. That is a given. What distinguishes them from each other is that republicans still want to make a living and provide a better life for their families. Democrats want that living handed to them as entitlements. They resent capitalism and apparently genuinely resent those who are successful. Its Woodstock without the acid.
