An entire generation is being destroyed. I remember watching this documentary about China where this girl ,went to college, got a professional job and subsequently bought her own apartment and car. they interviewed her mother who grew up during Mao's cultural revolution. Her mom though happy about her daughter's achievements lamented she had all these dreams about having a successful career but never had the opportunities that her daughter had because of the great socialist experiment. And it was the same for many of the people of her generation. If you are one of the baby boomers, close to retirement and have already made your money and kept it, you will be fine. But for young working adults, its a disaster. In the end with the rapid downgrading of living standards, there will be only two paths open. One, a revolution with bloodshed or a softer-style coup akin to the late Deng Xiaoping marching in, arresting all of Mao's successors and taking the country back from the socialist apocalypse.
