  1. 11 More Advertisers Drop Glenn Beck, Total Now At 57

ColorofChange.org announced today that 11 more advertisers have stopped airing ads on FNC’s The Glenn Beck Program. Beck has now lost 57 advertisers since he called President Obama a racist on Fox and Friends. The new additions include Capital One, Dannon, and Mercedes-Benz.

The eleven new advertisers to join the boycott are Binder & Binder, Capital One, The Dannon Company, Discover, HSBC, ICAN Benefit Group Insurance, Infiniti, Jelmar (manufacturer of CLR All-Purpose Cleaner), Jordan McKenna Debt Counseling Network, Mercedes-Benz and Simplex Healthcare (creator of the Diabetes Care Club).

Tommy Shi, Diversity and Inclusion Officer at Mercedes-Benz USA said in an email to ColorofChange.org, “We have checked with our advertising area and have confirmed that a few ads ran on the Glen [sic] Beck Show as part of a FOX TV buy at the beginning of August, but no ads have run since on that show, nor are there plans to do so moving forward. Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) considers its commitment to Diversity and Inclusion [sic] an integral part of its corporate culture and business strategy. We believe that MBUSA's success is dependent on embracing the various cultures, nationalities and convictions of our associates and market that translate into meeting consumer needs and expectations for relevant products and services.” (In other words Mercedes wants no part of Beck’s racial politics).

Mai Lee Ua, Project Manager for Public Relations at Discover said, “Discover is committed to supporting a wide variety of programming that features a diversity of talent, topics and opinions. Our current TV buys do not include any future airings on the Glenn Beck Show. Our ads will not run during the show.” Fox News tried ignored the boycott, sending Beck on vacation for a week, and most recently Beck has attacked ColorofChange co-founder and current Obama green jobs adviser Van Jones as a communist.

Today on his radio show, Beck went as far as to warn these companies that were in bed with a communist:

  2. This boycott shows the left at its ugliest. If you don't like the message, silence the messenger. That has always been their approach.

Mercedes' message is priceless. They were ok with Hitler, but not Glenn Beck? They are ok with investments in russia and china, but not Glenn Beck? Do they really want to get into this kind of contest? They will be added to GM and Chrysler/Fiat as companies no patriotic amercian would ever buy a car from.

I can somewhat understand Captial One and Discover. Dirtbag credit card thieves like them have to worry about having various arms of the federal government attacking them. Heaven knows they have plenty to hide. But let's cut up their cards and send them in anyway. Not that anyone has a Discover card anyway.

Dannon yogurt? Try Chabani, you'll love it.

  3. Glenn Beck is outside of the realm of acceptable discourse. I don't care what you think about Obama, he is not a racist with a "hatred of white people" and we are not heading towards totalitarianism, or authoritarianism.

Hitler comment shows you are a moron. What was mercedes benz to do? Rebel against german government and be shut down? Mercedes Benz is a private company and its job was to do provide cars and trucks. The policy was up to the government.

  4. Hypocrite right wing is the first to want to ban or have a left winger fired...

Look at the reaction to Bill Maher's comments following 9/11, ABC fired him because of right wing public complaint...

  5. I remember it very well. He used to have a show politically incorrect on ABC at night, he said hijackers were not cowards but heroes or something like that.

  7. The network decided they didn't want to give a guy with his judgment a venue to say stupid things. It wasn't only conservatives or the far right that objected to his comments. And no one organized any advertiser boycotts.

The real problem I have with this is that this communist Jones is a member of the administration. For any company, it's one thing if Van Jones, nutcase, is attacking you, but something else indeed if Van Jones, White House advisor is demanding that youdo something. Surely even you can see the difference.
