  3. He is not a white man...

    Self identify means squat...

Cops don't talk about Latinos as "white" and Latinos call whites "Gringo."

  4. It's not surprising the media is missing the real issue here. The real issue is Black racism and their inability to get past it. We'll see if that issue is addressed during this "teachable moment".
Professor Gates is by any measure a very successful man. Extremely well educated, an esteemed Harvard Professor, world traveler that rubs elbows with world power brokers and heads of state, a noted lecturer, on and on. How is it that such a successful man still feels the victim? WHY, was his first reaction in this incident to make it a racial issue?
Let's say this was a poor, (literally), white guy getting rousted by the cops under the same circumstances. Now I can see the white guy getting pissed, having a few words, maybe even getting arrested just like Gates did. What I don't see is the white guy saying, you're picking on me just because I'm part of the working poor.
In regard to race relations we've come about as far as we can unless the black community can get past their own racial bias, and the white man can't help with that. That, is an inside job. Blacks should beware any white man that tells them that he can help them with this issue. They should also beware of the black man that's tells them they are justified in their racism and feelings of being the permanent victim. Both those types have an agenda, and it ain't to help the black man. Race Baiting Inc. is in it for the power and money, and the white apologists are really just looking for votes from a permanent sub class of people. Whitey ain't to blame for everything, and whitey can't help with all your problems. Some of this they're just going to have to do for themselves.

  5. and the media likes to ignore the rainbow coalition of cops that were there, a white guy, a black guy and a latino.

But here we are, just focusing on the white cop. Like captain says, race is a business and Gates had his own agenda of promoting his upcoming documentary on race in America.

Don't ever let a crisis go to waste boys!

  6. and while we're in this "opportunity to learn" moment, let me tell you what this white man has learned...that even the successful and educated blacks, you know, the "clean" ones to quote our V.P., are still not yet far enough removed from the ghetto, at least mentally, as to be expected to act in a sane, rational manner when confronted by police. They can and do go "native" even when there is no need to. This explains the beat downs that they suffer at the hands of the police when all they had to do was STFU.
    Stay tuned for more...Teachable Moments.

  7. Teachable racism, what you posted...

Why? A non racist would have written:

and while we're in this "opportunity to learn" moment, let me tell you what this white man has learned...that even some of the successful and educated blacks, you know, the "clean" ones to quote our V.P., are still not yet far enough removed from the ghetto...

By leaving out the important qualifier "some" you show exactly how a racist thinks...

    Some do, some don't...

So easy to add some, so hard for a racist not to indict all...

  9. "The officer who arrested Gates, Sgt. James Crowley, said in his police report that he talked to Whalen soon after he arrived at Gates' home. "She went on to tell me that she observed what appeared to be two black males with backpacks on the porch," Crowley, who's white, wrote in his report.

Whalen's attorney, Wendy Murphy, said her client never mentioned the men's race to Crowley and is upset by news reports she believes have unfairly depicted her as a racist.

"She doesn't live in the area. She is by no means the entitled white neighbor. ... That has been the theme in the blogs and the implication in some of the mainstream news media," Murphy said in a phone interview Monday."

    Hmmmm...
Who's lying now, Officer Crowley or Lucia Whalen?

  10. Would love to see you tree hugging "can't we all just get along" white guys walk down the street of a black neighborhood at night and see how well you're treated.

Remember, it's only racism and a hate crime if it's white on black.

Bring your white girlfriend too (Optional777 you can leave your boyfriend at home, cocksmoker).

    Good luck. LOL.
