Obama's citizenship case reaches Superior Court of California

  1. AP- WASHINGTON D.C. - In a move certain to fuel the debate over Obama's qualifications for the presidency, the group "Americans for Freedom of Information" has Released copies of President Obama's college transcripts from Occidental College .
Released today, the transcript indicates that Obama, under the name Barry Soetoro, received financial aid as a foreign student from Indonesia as an undergraduate at the school. The transcript was released by Occidental College in compliance with a court order in a suit brought by the group in the Superior Court of California.

The transcript shows that Obama (Soetoro) applied for financial aid and was awarded a fellowship for foreign students from the Fulbright Foundation Scholarship program. To qualify, for the scholarship, a student must claim foreign citizenship. This document would seem to provide the smoking gun that many of Obama's detractors have been seeking. Along with the evidence that he was first born in Kenya and there is no record of him ever applying for US citizenship, this is looking pretty grim. The news has created a firestorm at the White House as the release casts increasing doubt about Obama's legitimacy and qualification to serve as president. When reached for commen t in London , where he has been in meetings with British Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Obama smiled but refused comment on the issue.

  2. Probably be dismissed as just another trick from the Right.

Had to get a State Superior Court order to release college transcript.. ??? First of all, there had to have been a "block" on releasing that information which the Superior Court had to override. Why would there be a block?

"News created a firestorm" ?? Haven't heard anything about it in the media...

  3. Wait for it.... ...... ......

I sense a politcal right vs. left flame war brewing in this thread!

  4. Shouldn't be. Truth has no author. Whatever is the truth should be acted upon by rule of law.

  5. Your thread title states 'Supreme Court,' when, in fact, it's a superior level court in California - and a "Superior" court in California is a lower level court much like a state circuit court in most other states...

I'd suggest you not intentionally suggest the SCOTUS is hearing this case, when it's a case filed in a garden variety in state court that has to hear any case filed by someone paying a $180 filing fee, no matter how frivolous, lest you lose all credibility.

By the way, the SCOTUS already had the opportunity to hear this case, and passed.

That makes this entire article a non-event, ad infinitum.

  6. Will move this to Politics and correct title to accurately reflect article. OP (Port) is warned not to post misleading titles in the future.

I just searched the AP newswires and could not find any reports with the keyword soetoro. Found plenty of op/ed, but no AP report. Could you please post the link to this AP report?
