Itâs time to count 87,000 Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama customers among the millions of Americans who have lost their health insurance because of Obamacare. From AL.com: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Alabama recently notified about 87,000 policy holders in the state that their individual health plans will no longer be available after Dec. 31. Blue Cross spokeswoman Koko Mackin said in an email that the plans did not meet the new requirements under the Affordable Care Act for 2014. âTo provide a smooth transition, our members were offered the option to be automatically enrolled in a new ACA-compliant plan comparable with their current coverage, or to choose from any of our new individual health plans during the six-month open enrollment period,â Mackin said. â¦a number of factors will determine whether they will pay more for new plans that meet Affordable Care Act requirements. Among those factors are whether they choose a platinum, gold, silver or bronze plan, where they live, their age and the size of their household, whether they use tobacco and whether they are eligible for an advanced premium tax credit. Mackin said premiums also include fees and taxes imposed by the Affordable Care Act.
They didn't lose their healthcare the insurer changed the plans offered. This has always happened with employer provider health insurance. When I used to work civil service FD the health ins was shopped every year or two and was constantly changing coverage, premiums and sometimes provider. I don't remember people wetting their pants over it back then. Back when Bush was pres my privately bought health insurance went up about 45% one year, damn Obama was working against America even way back then.

Itââ¬â¢s the nightmare that just keeps on getting worse. We can add 140,000 Minnesotans to the long and growing list of Americans who have had their plans dropped because of Obamacare. from Star Tribune: At least 140,000 Minnesotans who buy health insurance on their own are being notified that their plans will no longer be available under the new federal health care law, adding to the national furor over canceled policies that has overtaken the health care debate. Unlike many states, Minnesota guarantees renewability of health insurance plans, meaning that technically, no policies are being canceled. Some who are being offered different plans, however, say thatââ¬â¢s a distinction without a difference. Industry officials say higher premiums and added benefits are likely in store for most of those who now buy high deductible/limited coverage plans on the individual market. Medica Vice President Dannette Coleman said that while some customers could see lower rates, ââ¬Åthere could be some tough conversations. These are big impacts to a lot of people.ââ¬Â The notices are part of a nationwide wave of insurance company letters that have prompted GOP ire over President Obamaââ¬â¢s repeated assurances that under the Affordable Care Act, people could keep their current policies if they liked them. ââ¬ÅClearly, what Obama said about ââ¬Ëif you like your plan you can keep itââ¬â¢ was false,ââ¬Â said retired Bloomington police officer Dan Murphy, who recently got a letter from his insurance company offering him a modified plan that meets the standards of the Affordable Care Act, including maternity coverage, which he does not need. The new plan would jack up his monthly premium by $210, or about $2,500 a year. ââ¬ÅThatââ¬â¢s a big ouch,ââ¬Â Murphy said....
