Just that you were saying there were no examples of police harassing people who weren't doing anything illegal, and there are many examples of this, even though they were doing something illegal by protesting during curfew (violation of a curfew is illegal). In the case of the protesters for Covid quarantine, they were also violating the law in the exact same manner, yet your tone regarding that protest was decidedly pro the protest. Both cases are the exact same legally, in my opinion.
And I am saying that they shouldn't have been attacked with tear gas and rubber bullets. I do not support this action. What am I missing here?
That video was made by a guy called "Dwain"... serious Irish equivalent of white trash name, anyway adhoms aside. Who got shot? Also why no audio? They are not angels, they get infiltrated by criminal gangs, there can be political policing but they are unarmed for the very most part. I'll find the documentary about Trump Turnberry where the local were shocked to find Scottish cops acting as Donny's bully boys.
What I meant to say... okay, originally I was asking for examples which were then provided and in my most chicken shit manner was still holding on to breaking the curfew is breaking the law. Does this warrant a thumping by the cops? No. Should they be able to see the difference between kids just protesting and actaul threats? Yes. Should I not be so stubborn in my positions? Absolutely. In regard to the Covid protesters it just seems to me that the threat level in that situation was far less than being in the middle of a riot with both good people and violent criminals embedded together, and yes the Covid protesters had guns which was IMO silly and I would guess the police thought so too. None the less from a strictly legal position both are equally guilty and I can see how someone can argue if you're going to bust heads on the one group, you should bust heads on the other. For both groups I am pro protest and support any and all in their peaceful protests up to and including MFing police and other authority figures. You lay hands on people, burn down buildings, etc. then you lose me.
Agreed. And thanks for clarifying. It would be soooo refreshing if you could also get the folks on the left here stating how the rioters who are committing violence should be punished, but they squirm and wriggle when asked about that, changing the topic and then when you call them on it, they act all innocent and try to distract by saying "where did I say I support that?" without actually saying what they support and what they don't. Its part of the playbook for cowards.
