I am utterly dismayed by all of this. The first reaction of the administration was...to attack the vets who served honorably as "Swift Boaters", as though that was some kind of conversation ender. Now we have suggestions they were psychopaths, from some douchebag who has probably never held a gun much less faced combat.

Even worse, Krauthammer has to add his two cents. Of course, republicans leaping at the chance to backstab other republicans is pretty standard. How long until Jeb bush jumps in? At least the usual backstabber, Jonny McCain, is honestly appalled by the whole affair.

For the benefit of Krauthammer, the problem here is not getting bergdahl back or even not notifying congress. The problem is the idea of trading terrorist top brass for this woeful guy. Who knows how the negotiations went? I can promise you they weren't negotiating with a dolt like John Boehner this time though.

If we had put enough pressure on the qataris and Pakistanis, we would have gotten Bergdahl back without having to release these animals. Why the administration treats the Qataris like they are the Swiss is beyond me. They are major financiers of radical islamists groups. Why do you think they were not troubled by receiving these terrorists? Theyhave incredibly vulnerable gas processing infrastructure. One or two missile hits and they are back to tending camels.

And what can you say about Pakistan? Not only did they hide bin ladin, they also had this guy Bergdahl. That excuse that their remote regions are too lawless for them to administer is getting mighty old. Either they clean them up or we'll do it for you.

The network that held Bergdahl is widely knwon to be supported if not run by Pakistani intelligence. How about we apply sanctions ot them like we are so eager to throw at Russia? Or do we only act in situaitons where we have no interests at stake?

As much as I respect Krautheimer's analysis and opinions, he's WRONG on this.

I don't care how many prisoners the Israelis traded for one of theirs (that was a mistake, too)... Odumbo's jihadist trade was WRONG!... not justifiable by any convoluted rationale... (other than the one where "Odumbo really WANTS to harm American in any way he can get away with", of course.)

Too bad there isn't a survey of military members and veterans on this issue... would like to see THAT result reported by the MSM.

And for the Odumbo Admin and DemoCrap senators to call the members of Bergdahl's platoon... you know, those with the ACCURATE, FIRST HAND KNOWLEDGE... "swift boaters" and "psychopaths"... is despicable and political BS in its lowest form.

 

Let's be fair and put Krauthammer's comments in context. I think saying he "supported" Obama is a bit much.

Obama just can't keep his lies straight.

First he says he didn't go to Congress because of the health of the prisoner and he was about to die. Then the Taliban releases a video of the dude walking to the helicopter and while he didn't look great, he certainly didn't appear to be close to death.

With his first lie completely exposed, he goes on to say that he didn't notify Congress because the Taliban would have killed Bergdahl if he had. Thats lie number 2.

So why did Obama do it without giving the 30 day notice?

Here is the real reason. Because time was of the essence. Obama was getting really beat up for his VA debacle and he needed something else in the news cycle. So the prisoner release came up and he took it.

 

DISAGREE! Not a "close call" in the least!

If Krautheimer had served in the military, he'd not be so cavalier about this.
