Yes. It's a psychological study of how many "themes" of hope are presented in a speech by various contenders for the presidency. Whoopee. I'd argue that hope is a theme whenever there are periods of suffering and despair. So what?

You stated Romney ran on "Optimism and Change". Now, perhaps you weren't trying to be literal with your attempted deflection off of Obama's very real "Hope and Change" campaign, I don't know. But it's irrelevant, inaccurate (in the sense of the argument) and at best, distracting. At worse, misleading.

I was being literal, Romney had that printed on a banner. The author of the article saw it, too, and posted his piece on it the day after I mentioned it here.

IF Romney had it on a banner, it was most likely a jab at Obama. But since no one has a photo or evidence of it, we'll never know.

All I can tell you is the Obama ran on Hope and Change, which was very much about reducing the inequality of classes, and failed miserably on it. He enabled it further and worsened it, and just stirred hatred and divisive politicking.

Need I remind you that I voted for him the first time around, because of his promises? I distinctly remember the feeling of being duped - something you don't forget easily.

Had Obama done more to reduce inequality he would have been called a "socialist" or "Marxist". And (almost) nobody wants that. ; )

    Complete and total horseshit.

Obama could have prosecuted the bankers, ended the "gambling", repealed Glass-Steagall, wheeled in on the Fed...tons of things - which he promised to do, incidentally. None of this would have been deemed socialist.

Instead, he gave the crooks the green light.

Now there's one thing negative about Obama you and I mainly agree on.

But he still would have been called "socialist", but by the likes of bankers, not by the likes of scatophagos.

Who gives a shit about the bankers? Do you? I certainly don't. 99% of the public wouldn't, especially coming out of the crash of 2008. What happened to the "don't let a good crisis go to waste"? Obama promised to come in and clean house. Instead, he put all the same crooks back in charge and told them to "play it again, Sam".

    Epic Presidential Fail.

Sounds like you had "1789!"-high expectations for Obama.

No, I don't care about the bankers, but I like to point out that the "socialist" label still being applied today is stupid.
