Obama: UPS and FedEx are doing fine, it's the USPS that sucks

Discussion in 'Politics' started by bugscoe, Aug 11, 2009.

  1. Except the USPS has mandates from the govt - trying to get away from Saturday deliveries, funding their pension plan, closing post offices, being told how much they can raise their rates, etc.

When a private business does this, it is generally fine. But the USPS is hamstrung by congress and other govt obs.

Also, Fed Ex and UPS do not have to deal with things like "book rate" packages, or first class mail. They cherry pick their markets. USPS has to pick up mail even from places with almost no people.

Best thing in the world would be to privatize the USPS and let it run its model according to market demands.

I don't see the USPS giving up monopoly on first class mail any time soon.
This creates a very good NO RISK investment in "forever stamps". You buy a stamp at today's price and can use it or sell it at any time in the future.
I see first class mail costs to rise dramatically far more the inflation or any other investment.
Today’s stamp costs 42cents I could see that double in a year or two.
Congress will have to change their rules

  3. How does that explain the shitty service UPS provides and the subpar service Fedex provides?

    USPS is cheaper & better.

  4. Exactly.
And there is nothing that UPS or FDX can do about it.

  5. One of the more intelligent posts on this thread.
And as usual, the Mercor's and Lucrum's basic knowledge of the subject matter pales in comparision to everybody else.

I don't believe that I have ever seen anyone know
    so little... about so much.

These guys constantly voice an opinion without even the slightest understanding of the fundamentals of the topic. Almost makes you think that they are the SAME person, with aliases and are simply posting here on ET at the behest of Baron so that web-activity can be generated in order to show ET's current and potential advertisers.

One more thing for the geniuses... There are unique differences between UPS and FDX. They should not necessarily be lumped together.

    UPS is union.
    FDX is not.

    Big difference.

    You're fricken brilliant.

Your level of knowledge is completely in the realm of the obvious. Your knowledge is redundant to a sixth grader.

You mean "everybody else" who agrees with you?

Says the short fat bald loudmouth know it all jackass who thinks he has an answer for everything.

Ground already covered shit head, AND you post more than TWICE as much as I do.
Like you I had only one alias in the past and only have one now and my post count is the cumulative total of both.

  9. The best manager in the world understands the marketplace and adjusts the business model accordingly to meet the demands and needs of its customers before they happen. A foreign concept to those that support socialism, but true nonetheless.

    You are welcome.

  10. Ahhhh, I now see the flaw in your thinking; a pony express mindset in a space shuttle world.

    Please continue!
