You need to study up on your civics. The post office by law can't accept subsidizes from the Government. It also must include all costs when pricing its overnight services. This is to protect the private companies like FedEx, UPS. The advantage(liability) the post office has is a monopoly on first class mail. No reason first class mail couldn't be done by private company now.
UPS and FED EX's main purpose and source of revenue isn't 6 day a week delivery to every address in the country for 33 cent letters
No,because they are losing money providing a service that is no longer needed The post office is profitable on their package and overnight services
http://money.cnn.com/2009/05/08/news/economy/postal_service/index.htm It does not say anywhere that USPS can't accept federal dollars by law... 8th paragraph from the top. It had not received any taxpayer funding since the 1980s when it was phased into an independent entity. By then, all the infrastructure has been put in place. The point of postal office is to make mail affordable to all. If you make delivery of mail from alaska to florida reflect its real costs it would not be "affordable" anymore. If nothing else, the government indirectly subsidizes it even now by granting it monopoly status for delivering regular mail.
Kept people working... oh wait, you probably are worried about lazy ghetto monsters that don't have health care as good as working people's... sorry...
Kept people working?????????The same guy who created a recession that has caused the loss of over 6 million jobs ??????? Over half of all personal bankruptcies are due to medical bills, most of them from hard working Americans Most lazy ghetto monsters have Medicaid and the emergency room for their medical problems ,its the hard working responsible people who are getting fucked over by the health ins industry
Obama does have a point about insurance security. If you develop an expensive condition such as cancer or heart disease, and then get fired or divorced or your employer goes out of businessâthen individual insurance is going to be very expensive if it's available. But what the President and Democrats won't tell you is that these problems are the result mainly of government intervention. Because the tax code subsidizes private insurance only when it is sponsored by an employer, the individual market is relatively small and its turnover rate is very high. Most policyholders are enrolled for fewer than 24 months as they move between jobs, making it difficult for insurers to maintain large risk pools to spread costs.
Thats my issue on the subject.Obama doesn't have to redo Americas health care industry. If he could just reform the industry to where self employed people and people with pre existing conditions could get health care I think that would be fine.He should also make a rule that if 2 doctors recommend a treatment insurers cant deny that treatment That would cause problems with people only getting Ins when they get sick but i would be ok with health insurance being mandatory like car ins .That would spread the risk out and ins companies could still be profitable
