Why won't congress do this I wonder?

On another note, probably already discussed.

While the idea of not being disqualified for health insurance based on a pre-existing condition sounds like the compassionate thing to do on the surface.

What's to keep someone or even everyone one from canceling their policy and simply signing up AFTER getting sick.

How would this be any different than being able to drive without auto insurance, have a wreck and THEN call up your agent and start a policy while waiting on the cops to arrive at the scene?

  6. Hello

    Hello

Thank you for once again taking a shot at me for being willing to work for myself, now let me ask you soemthing. There is a billion people who will go to bed hungry tonight, is it not our obligation to feed all these people? If we raised the income tax rate to 90% and all of us lived in 300 square foot houses we could easily feed these people, why shouldnt we do this as well? It appears to me that food is a resource which is in much higher demand than healthcare, why are we not maknig this sacrifice to feed these people? At what point do yuo think people suffer from a lack of ambition to work based on tax rates? Have you ever taken an economics class? Do you not understand that at some point when the producers have to pay for everyone else the law of diminishing returns starts kicking in?

Could you live without bananas? I mean, would you be "ok' without bananas, or if bananas were very expensive?

    Hello

Since i hate bananas I probably could.... j/k, I am not taking a shot at you, as i think you are one of the few on this board who presents rational arguments without cheapshots, could you please clarify?

  9. strawman argument. all we are talking about is a safety net of basic care for our citizens.
personally i would pay more in taxes for a guarantee that my insurance could never be taken away.
as far as working for your self. you think you are the only one who ever did that? i left home at 17 too and have made my way on my own and was able to retire from working at age 45. i can afford insurance and in a few years i will draw medicare so its not really only for myself that i think we need insurance reform.

  10. Hello

    Hello

Clealry something I have said has offended you, and if you think i was acting like i was some kind of hotshot i apologise. That was not my intent. My intent was mearly to point out the fact that if yuo work hard no matter what age yuo can earn a living. I do not consider myself anything special, in fact when i explained that i picked up garbage for a living i was trying to prove the complete opposite, that no one is above any job they can do to earn a living. Infact you are helping me to prove my pooint that anyone who decides they are going to work hard is capable of earning a living, there is no need for us to pay the way for people who refuse to earn their own living, you and me are proven examples that no matter what age you are you can earn a decent living if you so desire.

Why is insurance a safety net and food isnt? this is one i will never understand.
