For the individual who earns the medium average income, he is really not being subsidized.

Who sets the retail price for the Bronze or silver program? The government. Then the Government sets the deductible and the coverage.
Then they provide some phoney tax rebate to pay for the premium.

This is an old retail trick. Mark up the retail price of a product then discount it a lot and make the customer think they are getting a deal. If you ever shop for kitchen cabinets they give you 80% off "list".
    Its all fake.
To figure out the true subsidy work from cost up.

An earner making a middle class salary , after the subsidy will be paying the same or more for insurance especially if you figure in the deductible and other loss of benefit from a private plan.

Going forward the the Government can extract more taxes anytime by just raising premiums. No Congress involved,
Just like the Social Security fund this health care pool will be spent in the general budget.

of course those making over 95k are stuck paying the fake inflated retail price.

This is just a big revenue scam

  2. They will pay ALOT more, for lesser care.

What is really starting to piss me off are the non-stop apologists who "quote" some monthly subsidized quote and NEVER mention the enormous deductibles.

Then again, we are talking about many of the same idiots who couldn't be bothered to figure out how an ARM works or the notion that NINJA loans could blow up in their faces.

The fact that the "low information voters" are now the majority is a disaster for all of us.

Not to mention the "quality" of care going down. Anyone seen convertibility lately? LOL.

It's always hard to tell if these lefties really know the truth and are simply supporting the policy to support the President or if they really don't understand economics or really basic math. I kind of think people like convertibility, big arrow, ricter, etc they know the truth. They have to.

Of course they do. But most on the left are hypocrites. They claim to be for the disadvantaged, the poor, the minorities, etc., but always support their party whenever it shits on the same people they are supposed to protect. For them, "team" is always put over principle. That's the difference between them and many on the right. When conservative principles are violated, team goes out the window. Principle trumps team.

I see health going the route of public education.
The poor are stuck in public schools. The better off ones pay for public schools but send their children and pay again for private schooling.

Obamacare will end up for the poorer people and the rest of us will pay the annual IRS fine but buy our own private healthcare program. Programs that will soon pop up in the marketplace.

This is actually a great analogy. And I completely agree. And what do we have today? Rich kids go to private schools, get into good colleges, get good jobs and become the earners in society. And the poor kids go to public schools, particularly poor schools in bad neighborhoods, don't go to college, don't get a good job and become a burden on society. But hey, education is free!

Our focus should be on making "quality" education affordable in the private sector and "quality" healthcare affordable instead of offering free crap subsidized to the point where there is no nutritional value left whatsoever and proclaim mission accomplished.

Nassim Taleb remarked once that for a few hundred years medicine killed more people then it saved. If you were sick in the 1800's and early 1900's, you were better off staying as far away from doctors as possible. This was because of the "poor quality" of medicine. I don't understand the point of making something free with poor quality that could actually do more harm then good.

  8. Politicos are not concerned about the quality of care... only that they can boast about giving something for free to the parasites... from whom they expect their vote in return.

(Odumbocare is not really about the quality of care... not even about "healthcare" at all.)

That's right. It has nothing to do with healthcare, and everything to do about total control, and of course, legal vote buying.

Obamacare is about establishing a tax revenue outside of Congress.
Are there guidelines as to how much Obama can monkey around with premiums.

Could he just raise premiums at will. For example if he said all unsubsidized premiums will go up 10% starting tomorrow.
This is in effect a tax increase on people making over 95k.

Can this be done without Congressional approval?
