Obama to announce fix for canceled health plans

  1. Wait a minute. Obama can just change the plan all by himself?

Under heavy pressure by congressional Democrats to fix Obamacare, President Barack Obama will announce Thursday that the administration will allow insurance companies to keep individual customers on their existing plans.

Am I wrong in understanding that the President does not have the authority to unilaterally change this or any other law? He can sign legislation presented to him by the House and the Senate, But are not new laws the province of the House and Senate. Enforcing laws is up to our Executive Branch, I had thought. Just because this mess passed by Dems has the President's name on it, does not mean he can "FIX" it without action by our legislators?

Except that the outcry is from people who were already insured. Of those who were previously uninsured, the desire to become insured is, if one believes the numbers, rather insignificant.

Those who found insurance to be quite important had already covered themselves.

Actually very few of the previously uninsured have signed up for Obamacare. And at this point the expectation is that very few will (meaning under 100,000 countrywide - which is a complete federal policy failure). Most of the previously uninsured will remain uninsured and simply pay the $95 tax penalty in 2014.

At this point let me say that everyone I know who is uninsured does not plan to get a policy under Obamacare. Most are younger and 'high' income - they plan to pay the tax penalty and not buy insurance.

The people I know who have individual policies and had them cancelled are furious that they now have to pay 150%+ more for an ACA-compliant policy in North Carolina for what basically is the same exact (or worse) coverage.

That's stupid spin, even for you Lil Ricky.

According to a recent poll 78% of the previously uninsured have no intention of signing up for Obamacare.

  9. true to form, this weasel sheds blame and puts it back on the insurance companies. Somehow he hasn't been called out for saying that he is going to change the law so people can keep their plan. lol the insurance companies already dropped people, they probably can't go back, those plans are gone. and how does he change the law by himself?

And We're stuck with a corrupt dysfunctional congress and a leaderless White House. It can only get worse.
