Your SLM money was welfare. They did not check your credit score, there was no collateral and no cosigner. While you are in school the govt. is paying SLM interest on the loan disbursed, so when someone else is paying for your loan it is a welfare in my book. Had you been unable to pay SLM for whatever reason the govt. would have paid SLM the money. Since you eventually paid the loan you were on welfare for a short-time. You are ET's Joe the Plumber. Joe was on welfare too but did not want his tax money to be spent on welfare.
Cut 'em some slack eminitrader007. He's had the experience of working hard to achieve a goal in his life and being denied something that he had rightfully earned (through hard work and serious effort) because of circumstances which were completely beyond his control ... he and I have way too much in-common for me to be mad at em. P.S. Are you the same eminitrader007 from a while back?
You bring up a good point. I don't think anyone can argue that there is a double standard. But, speaking for myself, I can understand there being a double standard and it doesn't really bother me. In time the double standard will go away, but as a pendulum swings back momentum will carry it past the point of balance. Blacks and people of color still have to fight to get out from under so their double standard is understandable. As the playing field levels then gradually these double standards can be acknowledged and start to fade out. I think. By the way, I didn't vote for Obama, but there is a huge consolation prize in getting our first black president. I don't think Obama is a bad man, and it's pretty damn cool to finally have a black president. I wish it could have been one of our guys (Alan Keyes or JC Watts) but thank God we didn't lose to Hilary. I would be a much more bitter person right now.
Yeah, I am working abroad. Came back to visit family and the election. Will be gone in few days and won't be posting here.
Responding to a post made by saliva ... I see that your posts are drawing a lot of quotes Clubber Lang. One reason is that they are so strong, and appeal to the "angry white male" who is feeling frustrated now that the playing field is being leveled bit-by-bit. The other reason is that they are so wrong and show that, for all of your feelings (and higher education), you really don't understand anything about business or how media works in America. Though founded by a black man, BET is owned and operated by a white-owned Media Conglomerate. And when it was purchased, they replaced his (almost entirely) black staff with their white counterparts (I belive they call it *redundancy* these days). So next time you decide to post an example of "blatant racism" on this board, make sure you know what the hell you are talking about. Because you sure-as-shit stuck your foot in your mouth on this one! P.S. It's been fun enlightening you. P.P.S. I'm sorry for making you look like ET's "Joe the Plumber" (as eminitrader007 mentioned) with your ignorant commentary. That was not my intention, but please stop helping me.
Look at the thread title - Why be so negative about the United States President ? Would you have said the same if Palin or John were Pres despite demonstrating ample Ineptitude. The majority of white folks voted for Obama otherwise his victory would not have been possible. If you can understand this at least we can communicate. This country has whites as the majority. The good thing is its the educated, decesion making white types in society who voted for BO, in that group includes KKK dragons. John would have made an equally good President, but he is 72 with a history of medical problems - thats where Palin comes in as VP her job is to be ready to be Pres? Make your own judgement. I know free speech blah, blah, The Author of the thread title is a lost cause and an utter disgrace to all.
