The main question is did your ancestors come here as a choice or were were they dragged and brought here. Mine came as a choice so I can't complain. You took out a loan with SLM, was it a private loan or a federal loan. If it was a federal loan, there's your govt. handout. The govt. pays the interest while you are in school. Would you have been able to go to school without the loan? No, you had to depend on govt. welfare.
You can only speak for experiences that you yourself lived through. You can tell about experiences of others, but that is not the same as experiencing it yourself. Anyway--- Where is my handout for the terrible treatment of my great grandparents?
How ironic. I thought the same thing when Bush was elected as the "uniter" . . . not once, but twice.
1) They were starved out. 2) My SLM money was a LOAN (which I paid back). The black kids got FREE TUITION, BOOKS, and BOARD. Mine was a LOAN, theirs was government welfare.
OK. It's just that I'm more than a little tired of yet another thread making subtle and not so subtle racist comments about one of the most subjugated groups of people in our modern time period. The fact of the matter is (which I am sure you know) is that if these people where having the exact same experience as those whose "crime" it was to have been "born black" they would be singing a completely different tune, and would thank the Gods (or just one, if that is your belief system) that they are on the "white" side of the fence.
Yes, all those that I mentioned. Yes, I know. And I know what it is like to be handed the keys to the kingdom ... it fells good. Now Clubber. What makes you think I want (or have been given) a "handout" for the terrible treatment of my grandparents, my parents, my siblings and myself?
