Tax cuts is a meaningless term, it depends what taxes are cut and what behaviour is incentivized by that tax cut. How about Mr Smith is incentivized to make that investment by making sure that it will be worth his while to do so rather than making the investment risk adjusted equivalent to invetsing in treasuries due to tax disincentives. Yes in times of plenty across the board tax cuts are great, why shouldn't people get to keep the fruits of their labor/creativity? In hard times targeted tax cuts that PRODUCE GROWTH are what are needed far more than tax credits that encourage consumption or saving.
You know, looking at that list I realized that its the Republican nominees that are more likely to have an open mind and cross over to liberal side on some votes. Can't say that about Ginzberg or Breyer.
Obama has made it even more meaningless. With "taxcuts for 95% of Americans" (his exact words), but only 60% of Americans pay taxes that can only mean checks to people who do not pay taxes. It's a "rebate" on a car, but you don't even have to buy a car! Just the fact that this Spread the Wealth socialist even has a chance at becoming POTUS speaks volumes - and none of it is good news.
Republicans never were able to get conservatives on the supreme court. Remember the arm waving, screaming, yelling, political storm that Kennedy led when Bork was nominated? The Democrats value the court system way more than the legislature because they figured out a long time ago that they can do anything and everything they want through the courts no matter what people vote for... California voters passed a law banning queer marriage, 4 judges reversed it!! They can just keep coming at us with the court system until we wither and die like an obnoxious kid against a parent that doesn't know how to take control... I get a good laugh when I read about the flesh eating bacteria disease that is spread around the Castro district in San Francisco... it's contagious by contact with surfaces that infected people have touched!! You liberals can bet your last buck I'm homophobic!!
