Obama Stimulus Turns Three: What Has It Achieved?

Discussion in 'Politics' started by Trader666, Feb 20, 2012.

  1. Correctamundo! Had the money been spent that way, the NATION would have benefitted from the infrastructure repair... not to mention the number of formerly unemployeds drawing a check for doing some work rather than just collecting unemployment insurance for doing nothing except voting for the Democrat/Socialist Party.

If there really were not shovel-ready jobs, that money should NOT have been spent..

Before I answer, I want to make sure I'm answering the right question.

Are you asking me how I would cut spending in today's world or how I would have spent the stimulus if I was forced to spend it?

  4. Both good questions, we will take them one at a time. Since we are spending ourselves into oblivion, and both liberals and the GOP agree, how would u cut spending in today's world?

So far, no one has been able to answer this one.

  5. This is yet another example of why I've had him ON IGNORE for SOOOOOOOO LONG! (Suffering fools gladly is not my long suit.)

As it turns out, the notion of a "stimulus spending bill" was a HUGE FUCKING LIE ALL ALONG! It was nothing more than payola for support. Taxpayers were duped/victimized once again!

  9. Well, I think it was Gnome who went into a deep funk in 08 cause he lives near Grant Park. He is another one of those guys that realized the monopoly on power is done, the jig is up!

I think everyone has been able to answer this one. Everyone has a solution for it. But not everyone agrees, or will agree. Case in point, you will not likely agree with my proposed solutions.

I would cut the Department of Education. Get rid of it completely and allow states to govern their education. Ever since the DoE has been created, it has continued to show it's worthlessness. We can no longer afford such folly.

I would drastically cut back on military expenditures. Remove bases in countries where it no longer makes sense to house them (and we cannot afford it regardless). We forced the Soviet Union to spend more than it could afford for it's military expenses, but then never learned the lesson ourselves. The gig is now up.

I would repeal Obamacare and look at alternative ways to cheapen and make health care affordable by all (including providing healthcare vouchers or some sort of refund to those who cannot afford it, after they have proved themselves to be both drug free and a citizen of the country). I would include tort reform in this bill as a way to lower the cost of insurance.

I would get rid of the IRS. Completely and wholly. I would put in it's place a national sales tax that takes the place of Income tax, and then put a constitutional amendment in place that prohibits income tax. I would keep cap gains (at a lower level) and get rid of the death tax entirely. I would tax (at a significantly higher rate) corporations that did business in the US but did not keep a portion of their employees in the states.

I'm just getting warmed up. But I recognize that you, and many other secular progressives, would not stand for much of it.
