Obama to Have Lunch with Biden Today

President Barack Obama and his mistake-prone vice president, Joe Biden, are having lunch today, a weekly occurrence that takes on far more significance than usual in the wake of controversy surrounding several of Biden’s recent statements.

While the lunch was probably already scheduled, it’s practically impossible that Biden’s campaign trail remarks will fail to come up given the clamor they have provoked. There is even a growing chorus of suggestions – mainly from Republicans – that Biden is not up to the job and should be replaced on the ticket.

The session could easily end up a trip to the woodshed for Biden or, though it’s unlikely, something far worse.

Biden this week suggested that Gov. Mitt Romney would put African Americans back chains and, in a separate appearance, indicated that we are all still living in the 20th century. The statements are just the latest in a series of mistakes – assuming the comment about African Americans was unscripted – in the past few months that have raised concerns about Biden.

Most famously, he blurted out on Meet the Press that he favored gay marriage, forcing President Obama to hastily emerge with his own statement of support.

He called Obama “President Clinton,” called Romney “President Romney,” suggested the Irish drink too much, crossed himself in front of a meeting of over 1,000 conservative rabbis, and paid a visit to Florida’s “Evergators,” as he put it.

Odder still, he began raving uncontrollably during a speech for no particular reason, fulminating about how his parents “dreamed as much as any rich guy dreams.”

 

I don't believe Biden will get canned, but if he dumped Biden for Ms. Clinton...Obama/Clinton win hands down. Unveil the change at the Dem convention. What a convention that would be. The race wouldn't even be close.

 

I agree, thats why im worried, if Obama picked up Clinton its game over right there, Obama must know this as well, and given his proclivity for stooping to anything in order to grab a few votes i cant see how Biden lasts.....

biden is about to get deep sixed...... If Romney takes a lead on Real Clear Politics Biden is toast, guaranteed......

Obama probably has him in the campaign bus outside the betty ford clinic as we speak, and hes telling him "One more drunk fuck up from you and your a gonner"

And, nobody is watching the polls closer than Barack Obama.

 

If Obama cans Biden for another running mate for reasons short of of health issues, then Obama loses, Clinton or not.

 

While it seems to me any President not suffering brain damage from excessive marijuana smoking would get rid of that boat anchor Biden. I'll be surprised if it happens as well.

Max, one potential risk here. If Hillary attaches herself to Obama and we roll over again and double dip. Then her political future is toast. No 2016 run. If however Obama gets re-elected and the economy rolls over, she will be there in 2016 to "save us". She can run on "I would never have implemented Obama's policies". I think the Clintons are too smart to fall for this. There is too much at stake for her and being VP is NOT a good stepping stone to the white house. Her approval rating is very high right now. If she joins his ticket, her stock goes south along with Obama's and she will not be able to spin it in 2016. Just my opinion.

 

I actually agree with you, that Clinton wont do it because it wont be in her best interest, but i still think Obama is on the verge of asking her. (if he hasnt already)
