  2. Why does Obama get a pass on this? If I - gastropod- had said that if you collect two goat livers and some chicken bones..and they would ensure you a good future...I would have been laughed at and ridiculed - rightfully so!!!!! I went to school for electrical engineering at one of the top five engineering schools of the US in 1989. I graduated...and have NEVER used my degree! All of these a$$holes out here saying that a college degree ensures wealth are full of sh!t. Maybe in the past it did...when the US was designing and manufacturing goods...but it sure as sh!t doesn't now that we are a "service" economy. Further, a four year degree doesn't even ensure success at a service job. I could have done the job I did with a simple two year degree...that is before I was laid off!

The evil people and their evil advertisements pushing people towards degrees in science and engineering should be treated as committing treason and their backers executed - no joke!!!! If I tried to put an advertisement on the TV or web that advised kids to spend all of their time smoking pot and surfing the web...I would be facing charges...if I was even allowed to run the ads!

Please, reader, answer this question: Why is it OK for "schools" and a*hole advisers to promote US kids going and spending thousands upon thousands of dollars...for degrees they will never use? If Bernie Madoff had advertised like this...would he have had a stiffer sentence? Why do the promoters of useless degrees get away with this?

My answer is that left wing bastions - aka "universities" get away with this false advertising, because of their patronage to the "progressives"/"left wing"/Democrats!

Well the issue is that with the rabid outsourcing that our wonderful "American" corporations have decided to do there is so much competition for jobs that it seems like we are heading into a US where a college degree will be required for most jobs. My company posted two positions last month, one in the marketing department and one in the data analyst dept, our HR was flooded with a couple 100 resumes for the two positions. The first thing the HR person did was toss the resumes that had no college degrees directly into the trash.

Does a college degree mean you're smarter, No. But unfortunately with the shrinking amount of available jobs in the US and more and more labor competition from overseas seems like a lot of HR people are using college degrees as the first weed out criteria.

Blaming just democrats for this mess is stupid because both Demons and Redumbs have and continue to drive this country into the ground.

  5. The world will always need accountants and lawyers. Not glamorous, but you will always find employment. Get a degree, become a doctor. Will always have employment.

My point is, go to school for something that is actually USEFUL. Sure, some will be able to find employment in the arts, political science, whatever, but the odds are against you. It's a risk you take when you choose your career.

The bottom line - there are WAY more unemployed people WITHOUT degrees than with them, so get a degree, and get one in an area where you will get employment.

  6. Our ONLY hope for salvation... change course to be as Capitalistic as we can possibly be.... whether at the leadership of the Dems, Repubs, Tea Party... if we don't reject our present Communist-like path, it won't really matter who is in office... we'll all be hosed. Frankly, I don't see such a change until at least the Second Revolution.
