I have to hand it to you Almond_Dragoon, you are a one-man machine gun of political opinions. No, really, I may not agree with you on many things, but, I admire your tenacity. Keep the faith!
Interesting, but not totally true here. I'm not desirious of a level playing field. It's the hills and valleys in life that weed out the unworthy as well as those willing to settle for mediocrity. The rough terrain helps train for the adversities to come. I just want an OPEN playing field. And I feel that this is where government should stop its assistance. Too much micro-management by an unskilled, self-appointed, self-anointed surgeon, kills also! Abolition of Slavery would not have been needed had GOVERNMENT taken the LIBERTY of ADDING that in original document instead of posturing to appease. And had that been done in the beginning, the other things may not have needed the attention they got. Weak governance is just as bad as none at all. And we should never, ever, never seek a level. By the very nature of that you are no longer advancing to the next plateau. Remember, the first desired step should always be UP NOT ACROSS!!
Well, I guess we can determine from this post that the veracity of the democratic/Obama talking points of taking back the country for "the people" and being on the side of "the people" has about as much truth to it as Obama saying that Rev Wright was "not the man he knew for twenty years." In fact, as the post shows, you and your party have total disdain for "the people", and wish to reign over them as a stern taskmaster. (do you think this is news to us?) I would guess that Fidel Castro's Cuban style gov't has a very soft spot in your heart, does it not? When the people are not behaving in conformity with the enlightened ideals of the left, democracy becomes a very dirty, primitive word, doesn't it?
I wonder why we very rarely see frank and open discussions about the fact that over the past 40 or so years the American Black community has had such a harder time (as compared to before the early 60s) with frightening statistics like 60%++ of babies born out of wedlock, men abandoning their families left and right, ~70% of people in prison being black (or at least non-white), gang activity, terribly violent lyrics in many popular songs, etc. Don't get me wrong: I really sympathize and wonder how we can all address this bad situation better. Imo, we all need to keep striving towards a healthy and happy, race-blind, religion-blind, gender-blind society, composed of successful, balanced, fulfilled indivisuals. Could it be that both the Government and some part of our culture (liberal hard left) have created a group that is encouraged to depend on the welfare state for their survival and think that their mistakes are not their own, someone else is always at fault, eg, slavery, "rich white people", etc? Why is it that tremendously successful and patriotic black Americans like Bill Cosby, Colin Powell, Condi Rice, Clarence Thomas, Juan Williams, et al, are treated like traitors in that community, ostensibly because they don't espouse this sick mentality and philosophy? Just who/what/why is making the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton wealthy and powerful as they are busy "solving the problem"? Do they REALLY want the "problem" solved? Who is telling the American public that voting against this extremely liberal and almost totally inexperienced, but supremely presentable and perfectly capable of reading other people's smart words on a teleprompter, black American, with very questionable ties to characters who are not shy expressing (to great applause) their anti-American and anti-white racist views openly, is "being a racist"? Just wondering.
Kinda surprised that you are focusing on race...but then again, that is going to be the fear card of white republicans.
As a matter of fact, as we all know, the race card has been played very strongly by both Democratic factions thoughout the primaries: both Clinton and Obama, not to mention their surrogates used it extensively. My perspective here is that Obama's candidacy affords us the opportunity to re-examine this important American issue with fresh information. For example, do you, and other liberals, condone black liberation theology?
I support American liberation "theology" which includes all Americans of all religions, even atheists. I don't think about what color they are. Obviously you do...as you are throwing out divisive talk of race. Do we agree that the race card is wrong regardless of who plays it? So what is your defense of playing the race card? Why not just sing the praises of John McBush?
Race relations are extremely important in this day and age in this country, and questions about the candidates' related attitudes are totally legitimate, actually mandatory. What if McCain had been a member of the KKK like Robert Byrd? Wouldn't you and other left wingers bring it up? What's wrong with addressing the situation that the shoe seems to be on the other foot?
Holy Shit!!! Original Prose from Yannis? Get outta town!! I had assumed that we were all doomed to an endless "wallpapering" of each and every thread with articles of the Coutler's and "Toe Suckers," of the world. You go Boy!
I support American theology too. My talk is not meant to be divisive - not any more than yours - you seem to want to call it that because you don't like it. But, look what I say carefully and tell me if/where you disagree. Or is what I say not PC enough for a Democrat?
