Poll: Majority say no tax cut extension for wealthy

Washington (CNN) - As top Democrats and Republicans continue negotiations over extending the Bush-era tax cuts, a new national poll indicates that a slight majority of Americans are opposed to the wealthiest Americans receiving those cuts.

According to a CBS News survey released Thursday evening, 53 percent of the public says that the cuts should be extended only for families making a combined income of less that $250,000 a year, with 26 percent saying the lower tax rates should be continued for all Americans, and 14 percent saying they should be allowed to expire at the end of the year.

Obama loves the massive Bush tax cuts for middle and lower incomes.
Almost 2.3 trillion over 10 years. Top tax rate Bush cuts add up to only 800 Billion for ten years.

In general most people are ok making someone else pay for something.

Its all able bodied people sucking off the govt including the overpaid unionized employees. ... how many times do I have say this to you. Its like you do not understand how overpaid govt workers are compared to the private sector. And then you toss in retirement accounts stuffed with the equivalent of millions.

  6. And how much of the budget does this represent? 0.03% ?
Those damn middle-class union people ! They must be the problem ! Not the bloated military or the reckless financial sector ! It couldn't be that !

This anti-union stuff is so overblown. Sounds like jealousy.

Dude, the unions are not bankrupting the federal government, they are bankrupting city and state governments. Illinois? California?

I think that futurescurrents believes that when you look at the defense budget for example, miraculously 100% of that money goes into making bombs, and there isnt literally an army of bureaucrats in between point a (the tax money)and point b(the bombs), that siphons off sizeable portions of that money.....

Same goes for the entire federal government, between point A and Point B money gets siphoned off to line the pockets of incompetent beaurecrats.

You are right that this is much worse on a city/state level, but it doesnt take away from the fact that a large portion of the federal budget goes up in smoke in much the same way, simply because government is overpaid, and inefficient.....

Stupidest move ever. Raise taxes on the brink of a recession? Since everybody knows that we are mostly talking about small/medium businesses here, this is definitely going to cause more unemployment and hesitation to invest. Now Romney has yet another concrete example how these idiots are destroying the American economy. Not to mention the divisiveness of the thing, pitching one American against another... disgusting :(
