  2. I agree. Look, politics is about convincing people your side is right and the other is wrong. If the republicans can't do that in this case, they deserve to lose. How hard is it for Boehner to go on TV and say we are not apologizing for trying to prevent the country from going bankrupt?

They should pass a bill that pays the military, SS and medicare and to hell with the rest.

Of course, the republicans' position would be far stronger if they were demanding pullouts from our various military misadventures, new and old. As Ron Paul points out, we can't afford an empire. The money we are wasting in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya dwarfs the amounts they are arguing over.

  4. In my view, his "pedal to the metal" spending is deliberate and malicious.

He wants to overload the US financial system with debt so that it will collapse... and grease the wheels for a new financial and cultural order.

That's what he means by "fundamentally transforming America".

  6. Each attempt was filibustered... Doesn't matter what the "supermajority"'s agenda is when all it takes is 41 senators to block it.

Had Kennedy not died they or the minority party contained to < 40 they could have steam rolled anything through. Being the compromising pussies they are they would have negotiated and watered down everything anyways much like Obamacare.

Really doesn't matter which party is in control as long as the other has 41 unified and ready to dig in.

  7. Bull shit from both sides. Both sides want a temporary shut down because they think it will give them a political advantage

1.5 trillion dollar deficits and these assholes are putting on political theater over 30 billion...give me a fucking break

End both wars now,300 billion a year max on defense, end the Bush tax cuts and bring all other spending back to 2000 levels.

Clinton left this country in great shape and republicans didn't know a good thing when they had it and went and elected Bush

The budget wasn't filibustered. The Democrats never brought a 2011 budget to the floor in the Senate.
