Oh, his success was real, there is a tradition in the US of the "classic pitch man" and Billy was very very good at it. Ron Popeil, of course, is the best ever.
That's what made him so damn good. He had a way of being over the top intense without putting people off. You knew he was shoveling shit at you but in a weird way you felt he really did care and could be trusted. Hard to explain.
Agree about Ron, a weird sort of enjoyment, and I bought all sorts of crap I didn't need. Back to the topic. Just saw this thing on CNN. I doubt the ad will do much good, but they said it cost like 100k or so, not much for an attempt to put down some, maybe not all, but some violence. Of course the crazies won't listen, but perhaps some of the middle of the roaders will.
