I wonder how mr. Orlando beach would feel if government spend was immediately cut 50%, and taxes were cut 50%? I bet his head would pop off. Anyhow, take a look back in time, and you'll see what brought America out of depression, and led to the roaring 20's.
We should always be "on the lookout" for waste, auditing must continue. But auditing costs money, too, so the ROI has to be taken into account. Anyway, spending is coming down. You can look on the CBO website to see where and how much, and you can read the cries of various governors as they ask Obama to halt the sequestration (for them).
Then how is it sites like these can figure out blatant and absurd examples of government spending with little effort? http://blog.heritage.org/2012/10/16/top-10-examples-of-wasteful-federal-spending-in-2012/ http://www.nrcc.org/thewastelist/ That's just a small, miniscule example of what's out there if you want to google for examples of wasteful spending. That is the kind of stuff the Tea Party is pissed off over. The second link alone tracks $57 BILLION in wasteful projects. I ask you again, is that extreme?
Hey Tao, got delayed looking at roofs. Had a nail in my tire and someone stole my spare so I'm sitting in the waiting room of the tire store. Those theives have hit me hard this year, I lost a bunch of power tools earlier this year. The most extreme thing the tea party does in congress is their unwillingness to compromise. The current immigration debate is the perfect example, their way or no way. On a local level here in Texas some in the tea party are working to put the bible in science class, I can't imagine that happening but there are some creationist nuts out here. So there's a couple of examples for you Tao. And on a broader level the nuts the tea party ran for president was extreme in how crazy that group was.
"The most extreme thing the tea party does in congress is their unwillingness to compromise." Damn, you're right, that should have been my first tea party attribute. "Not $1 in tax raising, even if you offer us $10 in spending cuts."
To say the Tea Party is extreme because they don't want amnesty, and that they should compromise is pretty silly. You either grant amnesty or you do not. How does one compromise on yes/no issues? As for bibles in science class, I've looked all over the Tea Party's official platform. I don't see that mentioned anywhere. Can someone point me to it? My suspicion is that there are a few folks out there using the Tea Party to further their own agenda - much the same as a few extreme secular progressives use various engines in the democratic party to go crazy with as well.
It's easy to claim the $1 vs $10 argument is extreme when no one on the left was truly willing to cut spending $10 in the first place. In fact, the sequester was such a tiny amount of money that we cut, which wouldn't have ever been cut if it hadn't been placed into debt ceiling negotiations in the first place as a forced cut. Therefore, one can argue the left is just as extreme with the refusal to cut even a single dollar from the budget. Of course, there's no way to know if the Left would actually cut a budget in the first place, since they have refused to even pass a budget in years. Talk about extreme.
the tea party is about decreasing govt spending and waste. the tea party is one of the most educated groups in america... that is why the dems target them. The party of the lies about the economy despises educated people who earn a living. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/04/15/us/politics/15poll.html?_r=0 "Tea Party supporters are wealthier and more well-educated than the general public, and are no more or less afraid of falling into a lower socioeconomic class, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll." ... Elwin Thrasher, a 66-year-old semiretired lawyer in Florida, said in an interview after the poll. âIâm sick and tired of them wasting money and doing what our founders never intended to be done with the federal government.
