There are certainly some posts from pspr I do not agree with, and others I just raise an eyebrow on. But in general, he posts articles that I did not see and find interesting, and we generally agree on the overall belief that big government is bad. AK47 and I agree on nothing at all. Pspr will go after dumb republicans as well as democrats. AK47 will never go after a democrat no matter what. That is what defines him as a troll. He's only about the propaganda.

  2. Come on Tao, piss is a damn fool. It's you guys listening to idiots like him that is sinking your side. Just think of Palin, Bachmann etc. it's a parade of fools and because they all talk extreme and fear the tea party crowd loves them while the rest of America and the world wonders what the hell is going on with otherwise reasonable people. The far right presents a religious like danger. Not you specifically, you do seem much more reasonable and open minded than the far right loonies.

I am a Libertarian. By definition, that makes me a social liberal, and a fiscal conservative. I've held to these principles my entire time here.

Our "side" as you call it is not sinking. 8 years ago, our "side" as you call it was on top, doing stupid shit just like your "side" is doing now. 8 years before that, it was reversed. The pendulum will swing back again, and perhaps we'll be here 4 years from now cursing the right. Who knows?

What I can tell you with absolute certainty is that the more left the country moves left (and it is moving left quickly) the more extreme ideas from the right will seem. When the country moves back to the right, those views on the left will be "extreme".

The people you call extremists on the right want simple, small government. They want it out of their lives as much as possible. They want smart fiscal decisions. They want people to be held accountable for their actions. They want corruption in DC to be prosecuted. They want welfare given to only those who need it. They want our immigration policies to be the same as every other country out there - no amnesty.

While some of that may never be achievable in the wasteland we call government, is any of that extreme? Really?

  5. What you wrote isn't extreme, but the tea party is extreme or at least their spokesmen are. All the republican presidents going back 50 years would be considered moderate to liberal by nowadays hard right. The strict litmus test will continue to exclude more and more Americans until some common sense and decency returns to the hard right. The my way or nothing attitude of the right isn't working and is offensive.
Well I enjoyed it Tao, I gotta go sell some roofs because my men need the work (me too).

Good post. I'm Libertarian as well. And isn't it odd that guys like bentarrow wouldn't jump at the chance to have a less invasive, small government vs what we have now? I don't understand. These liberal loon democrats would stand with the boogey man if he were a democrat.:(

Great, when you get back, please tell me what part of the official Tea Party platform is "extreme" in your view.

I don't expect I'll get an answer, unfortunately.

I predict you'll disagree, but the tea party's insistence on cutting government spending now, in the midst of a balance sheet recession, is extreme.

I expected the peanut gallery would pipe up at Tsing's offer. I wonder why Rectum thinks we are still in a recession 4 years and trillions of dollars in spending after the bottom? Could it be Obama policy/regulation/ignorance?

Why is that extreme? Are you saying there are no places the government can cut or make more efficient? Come on, Ricter. Say it. Tell me there are no places the government can cut right now to bring spending down without effecting the economy.
