Selecting and trading with brokers and which ones is something that’s different for each trader. You can say it’s because of the strategies and also depending on the type of trader they are, day, swing, position trader, or a scalper. One thing however every trader should do is to make a demo account with these brokers and try trading on their platform. Just a few months and you’ll get to know which trader suits your particular style. Like for instance, I started trading with ICM, eToro, IB, and fxview. But now, I’m live trading with fxview and eToro.
Well explained and one thing, before you select a broker/s, ensure you thoroughly go through the deposit and withdrawal terms. Usually, the whole process takes 24-48 hrs.
I've skimmed the thread, and understand the problem. The OP is correct and factual. He stated following that he is not able to withdraw because he closed his original bank account and OANDA needs proof of closure. The entire thread is full of speculation and belief about his intent to harm OANDA. This is not the case. I have been in the same situation with OANDA over the last 2 years. How is it that it's 2 years you might ask. Let me explain. I have had an account with OANDA since what my transaction history on page says as my first deposit on 5-10-2005. I have traded with limited success over the years, some ups some downs, but mostly down overall. I never took a withdrawal until my more recent attempts. Which have failed over and over because of the same issue stated in thread by OP. They require the funds be withdrawn to an account which funded it, whether it be debit or bank. They require each form of deposit to be withdrawn identically up until the amount deposited has been consumed. This means, that if you deposited 10,000 USD, and you want to withdraw, it has to be 10,000 in total over all the withdrawals, up to 10k, to the same account, and then if you have another form of deposit it will be to that account further and so on. Well, a lot has happened in 20 years of me having this account. I have not deemed it wise to withdraw before because I was hoping to just increase my account and grow it. I have since changed my strategy to withdraw partial wins instead of winning then collapsing and having nothing to show for it. I am not saying I am a good investor by any means, but it is not about the efficacy of my trading. I decided to withdraw monthly due to the 20$ fee for wire transfer. So my hope was to win some every month then max out my withdrawal. I have been trying to withdraw for years periodically with no luck. First decline of request was on 8-20-2019. I have been declined for withdrawal since then. I am not on my account for long periods of time, so when I got declined the first time, I didn't bother to check into it, but over the last couple years I have been more active. Also I lost a lot of money and I had no reason to withdraw, up to more recent times. Anyway fast forward to about a year ago. I contact OANDA and they say the spiel about how I have to withdraw to the account which funded it originally. I went through the process and gave them the form which stated the account was closed just like what was asked of OP. I then forgot about it and didn't try to withdraw till this year, because my trading has been poor so nothing to show for it. I have some funds now that I wished to withdraw a week ago, 1020$ to be precise to cover for the 20$ fee. I was declined again, reason that was given was another bank account was used to deposit that I found out also was closed out. I knew they were closed but I didn't know I had to report each closure and it's been over a decade. The first bank they asked about was a more recent account, which made no sense, they would want the money (I thought) from the initial account, but no I proved the more recent account was closed a year ago, and now I have to prove another account was closed yet again. That bank was bought out in 2021. Anyway I told them about this and they said they will notify the backend of the closure of the bank and take care of it, it's been since Monday 4-14-2025. I haven't been allowed to withdraw for years, since 2019. I just didn't bother to be more adamant about it till now. So this is not a smear on OANDA, just a post about the frustration I've had to deal with them for over a year, at this point, trying to get a single withdrawal. Because they don't tell you all the issues upfront when I already went through this with them a year ago and provided proof. A year ago I must have just forgot about trying to withdraw again and gave up, after showing proof and going back and forth until trying again this Monday. Whatever, I have a lot going on in my life. I'll not be surprised if there's another bank account OR form of deposit I'm not aware of that requires proof of closure to be honest. But I'm going to see this through all the way. It's been 20 years that I've had the account, just frustrated at this point.
