Just talked to a person from my market feed vendor, and they confirmed that the main reason for the feed's 10 second delay is political - i.e., opposition to the feed to begin with from NYSE and the Specialist firms. NYSE also claims "technology issues" as a basis for the 10-second delay.

If it is in fact a technology issue, how can NYSE claim that it is so technologically advanced ? I mean, how many vendors are out there that supply real-time streaming feeds ????

Has anyone heard if/when NYSE plans to make this feed real-time ?

Thanks for that, Avalanche. Obviously, the 5 second delay made no impact on me whatsoever.....LOL ! 5 seconds, 10 seconds, there is no difference. When's the realtime feed coming ? Probably by the year 2050.....of course, NYSE may be out of business well before then.

  3. IT'S CALLED 12.2 BAUD NETWORK! Rembember that during Atari? They just got off of 9.6 Baud. How fast do you think they run that thing at 12.2?

Simply incredible !!!! How do they get away with this. I guess after paying Grasso all that money, that is the only speed line that they can afford :)

If the NYSE is this technologically incompetent, then the SEC should revoke their exchange status.

    There are minimum competency requirements.

Hardly. Maybe stupid like a fox. And all the while they are laughing all the way to the bank at our expense.

Get rid of the "Trade Through Rule" (trade delay rule) :D and I bet they get up to speed overnight.
